Question about Gaggia 74845 Platinum vision coffee maker Coffee Maker
Hi, please if anyone can help this will be much appreciated. History 2nd hand machine, made 15 or so cups of coffee (321 total). Left in standby mode overnight. Screen on, clock on front frozen, touchscreen unresponsive. Turned off. Problem Machine will not power up. No LCD screen backlight, no mechanical noises. Tried new power cable fuse and unplugging for 1 hour. Possibilities from reading up: Dead Mainboard Dead PSU/Power switch Microswitches blocked Requires Reset. I am interested in finding out if there are indeed any Reset switches hiding inside. I have heard that on other Gaggia models the boiler can misbehave and requires 2 reset switches to be pressed before the unit will power up. I downloaded the service manual and can seem to find any on the platinum range though. Any ideas? Would rather DIY than send in for service if there is any option. Cheers Chris
You are correct it could be any of the possibilities you have mention.
It is worth checking the two thermal cutouts on top of the boiler.
These can be accessed by removing the top cover only.
If you press the center of the resets and you hear a click you have found the fault

Testimonial: "You're spot on! It was the two thermal cut outs which satisfyingly popped back when i pushed them in. I haven't left on again, preferring to turn off after use once a day. So problems every since. Thanks Chris"

I have the original manual (a bit marked) but a better solution is to download the manual for the Swing Model from http://nettopdf.info/download.html?dl=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5jaGV6YmV0dGF5LmNvbS9pbWFnZXMvZ2FnZ2lhL2dhZ2dpYSUyMHBsYXRpbnVtJTIwc3dpbmcucGRm&t=pdf&name=Gaggia%20Platinum%20Swing%20Operation
The only difference is the manual, instead of electrical mechanism that moves the cup(s) up and down.
