Ok if it is windows xp and u want to format it then what u can try is that if u have the option for the complete pc restore, then what u need to do is that shut down the computer completely and then all u need to do is that shut down the computer completely from the power button and then press and hold down the "ctrl" button and then press the power button only once and keep tapping the f11 key on the keyboard....and follow the instruction that says complete factory setting and then it will give u some message from symantec and then click on ok and the computer will be format, all u need to do is follow the instruction very carefully.....

or u can try once again, shut down the computer and then press the power button only once and keep tapping f12 key on the keyboard and then highlight the cd drive and then put nthe xp disk in and keep tapping enter and enter and enter untill it will take u to the windows set up screen and then it will give u the option to press R to repair and esc to continue and press esc on the keyboard and then delete all the partition the instructuin will be given just read it carefully and it will be formatted........hope this will work take care...

How to format drive c in dos? i am using xp pro...can you give me the steps? PLS HELP I AM NOT FAMILIAR IN COMPUTER BUT I WANT TO DO IT IN MYSELF

Just boot from a Windows install disk (put the cd in, press the boot selection key and select the cd unit) and allow it to run: the first step in the process is selecting the drive (select C), the second one is formatting of the drive - select the regular one, not the quick. After that just pull out the Windows disk or let it continue.

Manual for instruction setup key windows xp software ,pls help me to do it my self ! what key to boot or format windows xp i am trying do doing this formating about 4 day ago but still not successful.what...

Follow these steps and ia sure you will be able to boot by yourself:-
1)Change the BIOS boot order so the CD or DVD drive is listed first. Some computers are already configured this way but many are not.
2)If the CD or DVD drive is not first in the boot order, your PC will start "normally" (i.e. boot from your hard drive) without even looking at what might be in your disc drive.
3)Insert your bootable CD or bootable DVD in your disc drive.
4)Restart your computer.
5)Watch for a Press any key to boot from CD or DVD... message.
6)When booting to a Windows setup CD/DVD and many other bootable discs, you may be prompted with a message to press a key to boot to the disc. To boot to the CD or DVD, you'll need to press any key on your keyboard (like the space bar) within the few seconds that the message is on the screen.
7)If you do nothing, your computer will check for boot information on the next boot device in the list in BIOS which will probably be your hard drive.
8)Some bootable CDs and DVDs do not prompt for a key press and will start immediately.
Your computer should now boot from the CD or DVD disc.

When I switch on my pc,it tells me disk boot failure insert system disk and press enter. I have XP proffessional sp3 but only have a xp home disk.

If your computer has just been formatted, your computer might require you to insert the boot CD

to be able to run it. You might hence get the error message Disk Boot Failure- Insert disk and

press enter displayed on the screen every time you will try to run it. This might be linked

to:

* 1. The boot options not correctly set in BIOS
* 2. A non bootable CD is found in your CD drive
* 3. You do not possess any bootable device
* 4. You have installed a new hard disk
* 5. The hard disk is not properly plugged
* 6. Your system files have been infected

I just bought an little Hannspree SN10E288 with Linux. I can not install XP because all the partitions are unknown for Windows. What can I do for it.

Try the following, You need a bootable Windows CD/DVD for this
(1)Set your BIOS setting to boot from CD/DVD ROM first (before the Hard Disk or any other media)
(2)In order to set this priority resart your computer and as the first any information appears on screen start pressing "F2" and "DEL" keys swiftly and alternatively. A new screen appears....
(3)Look for "boot priority" and take the CD/DVD drive on top of the list. You need to experiment this a little because every PC BIOS has a different format to make these settings
(4) Insert your bootable Windows CD/DVD in your computer and boot from it.
(5)You will be asked to Press any key to boot from CD.......
(6)Press any key
(7)The Windows installation screen will appear.
(8)In the setup carefully select delete and select the partition where you want to install Windows.
You should have adequate space for Windows.
(9) Be careful do not touch the partition where the Linux is installed
(10) Once you have deleted the partition carefully Format it or make a Quick format.
(11)After that your Windows installation should start.
The rest is very intuitive......
Good luck!

My first suggestion would be to clean your XP disk and make sure there are no scratches on it.
Then depending on the BIOS of your machine when starting up press either F10 or F12 to enter the boot device menu there select your cd and hit enter.
This should fix your problem for you

Unable to reinstall windows xp

try it again with the bootable floppy disk... if you have the option use fdisk /mbr and then format the computer and reinstall using the cd you have. the fdisk /mbr command will get rid of any virus residing in your master boot record.
