Windows password correct but windows says its wrong

I have windows vista on a laptop with only one user, i accidentally clicked switch user instead of restart. Now whenever I load windows and click onto my icon and enter my password it says it is inncorrect username or password. I cannot wipe the hardrive and start again as I need the information.

When you clicked switch user Vista should display a list of all the accounts that are on the PC if possible click the switch user button again and see if you have the ability to enter the username for your account, unfortunately unless you're missing something with the process and somehow forgot the password, there is no way to recover the admin password, one other thing to try would be booting into safemode and seeing if you can login with your account.
