Question about ASUS P5WD2 Motherboard

1 Answer

PC powers on and dies after 2 seconds. I hope it is the power supply because that is an easy fix. I hope it is not the motherboard (Asus P5WD2). This never happened to me before so I am not certain. I have not moved the machine. Connectors are seated well. Any ideas?

I DO NOT THINK IT IS A POWER SUPPLY PROBLEM, TO RULE IT OUT JUST PUT ANOTHER PWR/SUPPLY ON IT AND SEE IF YOU GET THE SAMED RESALTS I THINK YOU ARE GOING TO GET THE SAME RESULTS AGAIN,

DIS CONNECT ALL WIRES GOING TO THE MOTHERBAORD EXCEPT THE POWER ONE.

I THINK IT IS THE POWER SWITCH IT SELF
IF NOT CONTACT ME AGAIN AND I WILL HELP U

Check the memory and the power supply fan is spinning if not that means you have a problem with your motherboard. If the power supply is spinning monitor if you hear a beep if there is a beep that means you have a problem in your motherboard. Check also the CPU fan if spinning, if spinning in a second then stop you have a problem with your processor

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive
Test the leads that attach to your ((hard drive from the motherboard)) or replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA and the ones that attach from your ((motherboard to hard drive))
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections needs its connections continue its cycle and to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error
hope this helps

Sir i am using asus motherboard(ASUS M2N68-AM SE2) in my pc, when i switch on my pc the processor fan and smps fan is rotating for few seconds(4 to 6 Seconds) and it stopped rotating. 1. the monitor shows...

remove all the ram from motherboard and switch on the system and see it is working or not like just on and fan are rotating and the smps fan is also working and your system is giving beep sound for ram.try with other smps also some time problem with power supply also. Remove the connector of power switch and restart switch and directly try to on from shorting the connector with the help of pen or screw driver point. Some time faulty switch also give problem. Just try all these possibilities.

Hope this helps. Please rate my response.
Thanks.
Have a good day.

You can download the drivers from ASUS WEB site. Select your model motherboard, and make sure you select the Windows XP or Vista version of the drivers that matches your Windows operating system.

First time building power hookups on mobo

the general guidline is that if your power supply has the extra cables and your mobo can support them, then plug them in... those extra 4 wires in your long power strip will normally be used for grounding, so that's a must. check your mobo manual to see the exact specs. ... as for raid, wiki it man.

I hook everything up and turn it on but i get nothing

if you just built a new pc, and hooked up your power button and reset button and mixed up the possitive and negitive wires you may have fried your motherboard. If you hold the power button for five seconds and your pc does not power down, it's fried.

Computer powers on but then turns off after a few seconds

I know this is a late response but someone might have this similar issue which is generally caused by a faulty power switch on the case of the computer. The switch is stuck in the pressed or active position so when you power the computer the switch still being depressed or faulty turns the computer right back off again and you're stuck in this loop. The best way to identify if this is the issue is to remove the power shunt from the jumper then use a screw driver to jump the power connections that would turn the computer on... if it stays on the switch or entire case needs to be replaced whichever is easier
