Giaggia Brera descaling problem

Hi, I have a problem with my Gagia Brera coffee machine. Couple days ago descaling light went on, so I bought gaggia descaling solution for it and performed descaling process exactly as it says in the manual however after holding the button for 6 sec (thats the last step) to reset the light, nothing happens. It stays on all the time. Then I tried to descale it teo more times but using water this time, however again, I had no luck reseting the descaling warning light. Do you know what that would mean? PS. Even though the light stays on I can still operate it as before.

been talking to Gaggia (Philips) and they told me that with the newer Breras, you need to ill the water tank, put the machine into standby, then press the long and short cup buttons together for 6 seconds. This will start an auto descale programme (that they didn't mention in my manual!). A small amount of water will be dispensed through the coffee nozzles, then it will stop and the warning triangle and the prime warning light will come on. Place a large container under the panarello, then turn the knob to the right to dispense water. It will dispense about 50 - 100 mls (cold) water, then stop for about a minute. Just leave it and eventually it will empty the tank. Refill it and start again, but it will stop after a few seconds. Turn the knob back to central position, then it will dispense another small amount of water from the coffee nozzles, then stop with warning lights again. Turn the knob back right to dispense water, if it stops because of empty tank, just refill it. Eventually, the machine will stop and go to standby. Turn the knob back to the centre, refill tank yet again and the machine will start normally WITHOUT that descale warning light. HOORAY !!

Hi, I had the same problem. When trying to fix it according to the suggested solution, I only get as far as the warning sign blinking. However no water is dispensed when I turn the knob to the right (hot water). Any suggestions? I have only had my Gaggia Brera for four months, so it is the first descaling.

Hi Eva, sorry I haven't seen your post before. Just leave the machine in the coffee dispensing position until the warning triangle lights. The machine will stop and start for 20 mins or so. When it stops with the warning light flashing on it's own (not with thw water light), then turn the knob to the water dispensing position. If the water tank empty light comes on as well, just refill the water tank.

Excellent video on how to descale: Search "How to Automatically Descale a Gaggia Brera". Video states that since approximately mid-2013 there is an automatic Descale process to be followed. How to Automatically Descale Gaggia Brera

SOURCE: Saeco Odea Giro descaling problem

Ok first check if the machine is in greenlight state when you press and hold the water button, as it will not work when the red exclamation mark blinking.

also check if the button work at all flipping back and forth to hot water and steam.
I have never had this problem that it dident work.
But remember this, you dont have to do the descaling again as that has nothing to do with the reset.
You can even reset the descaling alarm with out having done the descaling.

If that for some reason wouldent work I would think its the CPU card is not working.

(Button 26 is the right-most one (2 intersecting
From the Manual:
Press the button (26) for at least 5 seconds to
select the descaling operating mode; the LED
emits a fixed light.
• Direct the steam nozzle (14) toward the drip
• Position a vessel of adequate capacity under
the steam nozzle and turn the hot water knob
anticlockwise (16). The appliance starts an
automatic descaling cycle with pauses preset
by the manufacturer and managed
automatically by the appliance.
• At the end of the cycle, the flow of the
descaling solution is shut off and the 5 buttons
start flashing simultaneously.
• Turn the knob of the hot water nozzle (16)
clockwise to OFF. In this case, also the warning
light (27) flashes.
• Rinse the water tank and fill it with fresh
drinking water.
• Position a vessel of adequate capacity under
the steam nozzle and empty 2/3 of the
contents of the water tank by turning the steam
knob (16) anticlockwise; to shut off the flow,
turn the knob (16) clockwise.
• Let the appliance heat up and empty the
remaining contents of the water tank by turning
the steam knob (16) anticlockwise; to stop the
flow, turn it clockwise.

SOURCE: I have a Gaggia Titanium that is six years old. I

HI Sorry, but you have 6 years of scale that has been broke loose and is now plugging your lines. You are going to have to take you machine apart and blow out all your lines and also the boilers with air pressure to clear the lines. Descaling is one of the most important things you can do for your machine. Your lucky that your machine went 6 years. Most don't.

SOURCE: Saeco Talea Giro Plus, descaling

Try doing another rinse cycle until water tank empties. I had to do that a couple of times, then the red exclamation mark came on. Then I turned knob to off position, refilled water tank, pressed the descale button for 6 seconds, green light came back on and it did its priming.

GAGGIA Brera RI9833/61 - Descaling light still on after descaling

I think that you button doesn't make a good contact. Try to press it with different pressure and on different sides slightly off center to give this a try - it may be just a bad contact that is enough to change the bean setting but not enough to reset the warning indicator through a long press. Let me know how it goes ... they may have changed the button that needs to be pressed as well (does your manual say anything different?)

Why after descaling my new Seaco Syntia coffee machine, it stops while brewing and it requires being primed over and over.

Syntia and Brera machines are made by Saeco. Brera is marketed under the brand name Gaggia (owned by Saeco).
The causes for this malfunction can be due to following in order as stated:
1- The machine was not descaled or it was descaled using products. that are labeled as descaler but they are not. After extended period of not descaling, one may have to use more than one cycle of descaling to remove accumulated depsits of Calcium in the water system.
2- The grind setting of coffee is too fine. Make it coarser by one notch toward coarser setting at a time.
3- The pump is losing its pumping pressure and not pudhing water through the coffee. Replace ULKA pump with an Invensys pump model CP3.
All fully automatic machines are convenient and make classic shots of espresso from bean to the cup at the push of a button. With this simplicity, owners forget its maintenance until machine stops working. Please pay attention to descaling every three months. No excuse is good enough.

Gaggia unica red triangle flashing at same time as green cup

Hi there My experience tells me that when a red light flashes on a coffeemaker it is one of three things: It needs water to be able to make more coffee The "bowl" that the compressed coffee goes in ids full and needs emptying It needs cleaning I would start filling the waterholder, Then emptying the compressed coffee holder If neither works, then start the cleaning prosess Best of luck and enjoy your coffee Kolbrun

If you close the machine without the brew unit inside, the gears aren't aligned anymore. I tried to put the machine off and then back on. You can hear the gears turn. After a couple of repeats, I was able to put the brew unit back inside.

No steam pressure with little to no water/steam

Remove the steam wand and inside you will find a small teflon like tube at the top, throw that away and run water through the wand to make sure it is clear then re-assemble in machine and test.
