Can you provide more information about this issue.

Ideally, see if we can isolate the issue.

Disable the built-in antenna.

Try connecting to the wireless via a USB wireless antenna. (hopefully you can borrow one).

If you can connect, then I would say you need to replace the built-in antenna. Or you could keep using the USB antenna.

Good luck

Can't connect to internet via wireless

First, try uninstalling the wireless drivers from the device manager, then reboot. The machine will find the wireless and reinstall the drivers automatically. If this is a driver glitch, this will clear it. If it still doesn't work, then take the laptop somewhere that has free wifi, if you can connect through their service, then the problem is with your internet provider. If you still cannot connect, then it may be a failed wireless card, or a dirty or corroded card slot or antennae lead. Try these, get back to me with the results, and we'll go from there.

Network problems connecting to internet

Hi. If Dell is correct, then yes, it would be expensive. Your other alternative is to buy a PCMCIA Ethernet Card. They range from about $20 to $40. Or, you could go with what you suggested and do wireless via a wireless router.
