Hi, problem can be solved. What causes the keypad will light up for a few seconds then turns off, is because the keypad has a separate function from the phone. (it has a removable keypad). And the keypad inside the cell phone is getting Bad and it needs to be replaced.
You can know how to disassemble the cell phone through the link below:
When you replace the keypad, phone will be ok again.
Either a software re flash may help or a keypad replacement. Usually facial moisture could be a cause of this. i would recommend trying a blow dryer on the keypad for 40 seconds with out the battery to see if that fixes the problem
Hi, for anyone still having this problem with the newer Samsung phones, I just solved the issue I posted up earlier.
To disable keypad tones, but keep your ringtone etc active, go to Profiles -> edit your 'Normal' profile. Press right on the selection pad twice to get to phone-related settings. Scroll down to the bottom of that page of settings to the 'Phone sound volume' option, select it and adjust it to zero.
This will turn off all keypad noises and other irritating beeps while not actually turning your phone on to 'silent mode', which would disable your ringtone etc.
Hope this helps, I know I was going insane with this phone until I figured out how to turn those sounds off.
There are "seem edits" for this. There are several sites that list them and have the edit numbers as well as software for these and many other functions. Do a search for seem edits. This is not a real problem but a mod.
