Question about Sony PCGK37 Notebook
I have a Vio PCG71211W that refuses to power up. The green light on the power button keeps flashing but the PC does not always power up. THere appears to be no issue with the battery (already replaced) and the PSU and Jack seems to be fine. HELP
Computer does not boot up The problem maybe the RAM, it is faulty or just needs reseating to make proper electrical contact.
Reseat the RAM and then boot up your laptop. If it still does not boot up then remove the RAM module/s and take them to your friendly computer repair shop and get them to test the RAM for you. Just like you sometimes need a mechanic to repair your car, sometimes you do need a technician to diagnose and identify the fault or faults on your computer. Not only does a good service technican have the experience to deal with this type of problem, they also have the equipment that allows them to look at things the average computer user can't see, and he has a collection of replacement parts that can be used to quickly test individual components on your computer.

SOURCE: power up issue
It's possible the lid switch is stuck.
Make sure its free.
Try another power cord/adapter.
Try without the battery installed.
If none of this works the Motherboard may be at fault.

the light will always do this. because i have one at home. Just power it up and then power it back down and it should just go back to normal, i have had this problem before and it will be fine.

Reseat the ram. Listen to see if the hard drive is engaging. If you hear the hard drive try replacing the cmos battery. consult manual for location of battery. I've replaced a couple in different models recently this fixed Them all. They use some cheap battery that didn't even test to 3.0 volts. Good luck

Though your observations are explained well, I just want to clarify once again.
If you leave the adaptor plugged on for charging does the battery get charged up to display or show on display in the power options when switched on that the battery is fully charged.
Now if the adapter is removed does the laptop last much on the battery or does it drain off easily? If so the battery is bad and must be replaced.
Also if you are able to check the voltage on the battery terminals of the laptop and it shows a good reading then the battery is a suspect.
please check the link below for some tips on the power adaptor.:
