All Accessories will quit working while driving 2002 Chevy Z71

2 or 3 times in the last few weeks we will be driving my husbands 2002 Chevy Z71 1500 pickup and the battery light will flash and all the accessories will quit working. We replaced the battery after this first happened, however now it keeps happening, however not all the time. Help! Please, can't afford to keep paying for labor when nothing is getting fixed.

    Thank You! Is this something that My husband could find in the manual how to check, or should we have our local shop checkit out? Also if the circuit board is bad in the dash, will it show on their testing machines, or not?

Hello;
It sounds as if the main power lead could be loose powering the dash. There are several main power blocks, make sure your connections are clean and tight. I have seen the circuit board for the dash fail but not often. Hope this helps.
Thanks;

    Hello;

    Your husband can check the connections, you will see if they are loose. The circuit board may not show on the tech's computer as failing. If you see anything loose or corroded, clean and tighten. Hope this helps.

    Thanks;

    Rich

Check the transmission range or gear position switch on the transmission body. It is prone to corrosion.

Most likely you have power assist. Either the pack and pinion died, or you lost power and /or ground to it.

2001 chevy cavilier, 180,000 miles on it. Drive the car for days and it's fine, then it looses power. Let it set for a while, and you might go another couple of miles. Let it set a week, and right know it...

My husbands 2000 model would stall while driving it. He said it made an electrical noise near the steering column. He had it to a chevy garage 3 times for the same problem. It would quit for a year and start again. They changed a sensor,and even a fuel pump which they charged $8oo for. Finally after several attemps my husband changed the ignion switch and it seemed to fix the problem. When he tore it apart he found what looked like melted wiring cover that had drained onto the wiring.When he first bought the car he a recall fixed ,some kind of pigtail in there and we wondered about that.Try this , The ignition switch:I think this might be your solution. It was fairly cheap and pretty simple to do yourself.

there may be a software update for the powertrain control module for mis-fire monitor. check with your local dealer. but if thats not the case,these engines are known at least in my experience of having the heads crack between the valves and cause mild mis-fires. try compression testing all the cylinders and performing a leakdown test on them as well.
