Is the control panel completely dead?? If the cooling fan under the cooktop was not working, in most cases the main control board or control transformer if it is separate will get heat damaged and need replaced. That cooling fan is there to keep everything from over heating mainly during clean but should come on during normal baking if it gets too hot under the cooktop.
it may hav over heated and caused the one time safty on back of oven to trip . replace safty and it should work . ps some times if it has a cooling fan the fan may have quit causing this problem . when the saftey failes look for the cause .. it will do it again . and the safty is about 30 .00 .. mm
I am assuming this is a convection oven. There are only so many possibilities for this. 1) Bad fan motor 2) bad wiring from the board to the fan motor, 3) bad relay on the board. I recently ran a call on one of these and found a tech had replaced the oven temp. sensor had pulled it through oven cavity and in doing so pulled the wires loose from the fan motor, shorting out the board. Both had to be replaced.
this is nonsense on part of your guests. if thermostat is turned to off position, then oven will stop irrespective of the timer setting. suspect they may be listening to the casing fan which can run for some time after the oven is off
