An easy guess would be that your kickstand is loose and pulled outward. This would cause the crank on the drive side to clunk once every revolution. Fold the kickstand up, align it with the chain stay and tighten it again.

You either have a bad bearing in one of your wheels or in your bottom bracket ( where the crank is connected ) It could also be a pit in the bottom bracket where the bearings ride. If this thump occurs about the same spot on your cranking revolutions I would say it is a pit in that bottom bracket. If it were the bearings themselves that were worn the thump would be more random. The first thing to do would be to remove the chain from the crank. Then crank the pedals using your hands and see if you can feel that thump or vibration with your hands. If you feel it there then replace the bottom bracket or get new bearings. If this does not solve your problem then check the wheel bearings. Just take the wheels off and spin them while holding onto the hubs with your hands. If the wheel bearings are bad you should feel a roughness or vibration while spinning them. Since you described this as a thump I would say problem is not your wheels. They would make more of a clicking sound. Good Luck

I believe an electrical surge has incapacitated my Schwinn 201 recumbent bike. What is the solution?

More than likely the head will have to be replaced. Talk to your Schwinn fitness dealer and see if they can order you one. Or call Schwinn at 1-800-605-3369 and they can tell you where to go in your area or order from them.,

Schwinn 201 recumbent bike makes clicking noise

Check the tightness of the crank bearings, also the crank fastening nuts (on axle) If its the gears you may have to turn the screws on the rear derailleur to adjust the tracking. The same as the front. Your question is kind of vague so its hard to pinpoint the clicking noise. Could even be a stone in the tire??lol

How to disassemble crank bearing on Schwinn Mesa Mountain Bike

You wil need a couple of special tools, or be fairly creative with the tools you have.
  1. remove the dustcovers in the crank arms at the crank axle
  2. loosen the crank retaining nut/bolt.
  3. thread in a chank puller and pull the crank arms.
  4. remove the lock ring on the adjustable side of the crank axle (Requires lock ring wrench)
  5. remove adjustable bearing cup.
  6. remove axle and bearings
  7. replace or repair as needed.
Once you have it opened up ou can determine if you need new bearings or crank axle.
to assemble, reverse above procedure, insuring bearing play is minimalized.

Hope this helps.
