The possible cause could be upper lower filters. does the cd drive show up in "My Computer"?
if so follw these steps -
click start-> run-> type "regedit" (no quotation)-> click file-> export(make sure that all is selected and that save location is in the C: drive, very important.) -> find this reg key - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
make sure this is 100% right. now left click it once and stuff will come up in the right side of the window pane. delete the entries on the right side that say "upper filters" and "lower filters". restart your pc. hopefully this should work.
FYI, the registry is everything about the pc, be very carefull not to delete the wrong thing

Is it not working (i.e. doesn't load and spin) or not playing (i.e. no sound output)?
