Cd player not working - Compaq Presario 700 470024-192 Notebook

I never have seen this model but guess it's similar to any other CD-Radio model. You can download a manual from here

It should have a switch to select CD player.
Once you select CD player, open CD lid, insert a CD and play
If won't play, CD player is defective and if you don't know how to repair it you should take it to a repair service and evaluate if it's worth to reapir.

If yours is the one with the cd player the code that came with the radio works for both. If you don't have the right code the radio and cd player wont work

Pioneer is a very good cd player i know this from my friend having one, I know in some cases like yours if a CD player does not play cds it is a dirty or scratched lazor head( disc reader ), you could try buying a cd lazor head cleaning kit i done this a few times for cd players an my dvd player an it worked pop in cleaning disc an follow simple instructions about 10 mins at most that job if it works no worries, if a cd cleaning disc doesent work its more likely the cd lazor head is burnt out or past cleaning like my ford probes jvc cd player wont work because the reader is past cleaning sadly from age as its a car that has has 3 owners im looking for new cd player now, just try a cleaning kit few times if that will not work it may be ruined an you will have to get another sorry to say that but its same for me. hope this bit of help works

It will cost about $30 to buy a brand-new CD/DVD reader/writer.
Any computer-store technician can easily "manually" open your current drive, and remove the CD/DVD media.

check the back of your marantz player, some old marantz products have a buttom at the back saying system or intermal, if it is on the system side, the remote will never works.

try cleaning the lens, if still dooest work try to adjust a tiny trimmer resistor in the board near the lens

If it has been playing CD's for over 5 years (really reliable CD player.) then I'd think it's had it's life, it needs to rest now. Meaning it's dead so you either get a replacement or a get a new CD player.
