Dell inspiron will not boot in safe mode . goes round in loop . if you put an xp setup disk in it still goes to loop

For your computer to read the Windows CD you need to change your boot mode to CD/DVD drive first. You need to access your BIOS which usually can be done by either pressing F2 or del when you first power on your computer. Once your in the BIOS look for the boot order option and make CDROM as the first boot device, save settings and restart your computer. When the XP cd is read, it will show you Press any key to boot from CD... and you need to press any key right away. It should read the XP disc and doing a repair is another story.

My dell xps 700 will not boot up. On the diagnostic lights it shows 1 3 4. Says memory in the owners manual. I took it to a guy he says its the mother board. what is your answer

it could be the memory controller, which is a part of the motherboard. a memory controller error would appear as a ram issue, until you tried replacing the ram, and it still shows the error.

it is very easy to test ram. just take out all but 1 ram stick and try to boot. if it does not boot, try a different, single, ram stick. it is nearly impossible to have 2 bad sticks of ram, so if 1 of them doesnt work, then it is the motherboard's integrated memory controller.

My pc will not load windows and I only get blue screen and dell home page. Computer will not repair as it keeps looping back to same page. I tried booting from install disk with same result.

When you say you tried booting from the install disk, what do you mean?
Do you ever see anything but the Dell image?
When you try to start up, press f12 for boot options and choose the diagnostics option and run it.

My dell inspiron 1501 with microsoft vista loops and never gets out of loop when "welcome" starts. Have gone through all safe modes, etc but no success in getting sytem to work.

Sounds like you may have a corrupt driver or incompatible software trying to launch at boot. Or, at worst, malware thats totally screwing it up. If you have access to another PC, download Service Pack 2 for Vista. Boot your PC into safe mode, and try to install SP2 from safe mode.

Cant instal win xp on dell xps 700 help pls

1.) Insert Bootable CD.
2.) if not booting up, go into the Bios and change the bootable device list to list the CD or DVD drive first
3.) Disk should boot, if not then you have a problem with your CD (try another) or the CD/DVD Drive is not working properly.

My Dell Inspiron 700 laptop with Windows XP suddenly will not boo

Remove the hard drive, then see if you can boot to the XP CD. If you can, then the Hard DIsk Drive has most likely failed. Reseat the HDD and try booting to CD again. If problem comes back, try a new hard drive.
