Question about Poulan Pro PP3816AV 38 Cc 16" Anti - Vib Chainsaw

Open Question

Chain bar not getting lubricant

I have a Poulan Pro 35cc (PP3516AVX) I bought a month ago new. Although it was working fine now the chain bar is not getting lubricant? I emptied the lube out but did not see any visible problem there. I replaced the lube at room temp and still not getting to the chain bar? any suggestions?

Their not the best saws but make sure the nuts holding the bar and cover on are tight after adjusting chain sometimes improper cutting will continue to kick chain off bar.

SOURCE: chain falls off Poulan PP3516AVX

The bar needs to be adjusted. What this means is the long, sliver arm that sticks out and has the chain wrapped around it is in too far. You will need to find what is called a 'set screw' or 'set bolt', which you can loosen and then adjust the bar in and out, which will tighten or loosen the chain. Keep in mind that you should have a little slack on the chain or you will burn up the bar. Also, make very sure that the chain is good shape. A chain that pops on you can take an eye out or fingers off of your hand if you're not careful.

CHAIN STRETCHS AS IT HEATS - KEEP CHAIN TIGHTENED CORRECTLY AND ALWAYS KEEP OIL IN OILER AND MAKE SURE IT OILS THE CHAIN. IF THIS DOESN'T FIX - REPLACE THE CHAIN. IF IT STILL HAPPENS THEN REPLACE BAR. WILL FAIL AGAIN WITHOUT OIL. POULAN WILL NOT HOLD UP WITHOUT CHAIN LUBRICATION. WORSE THAN OTHERS. IF CHAIN OR BAR OVERHEATED YOU'LL WORK ON IT MORE THAN YOU CUT. OIL IS THE KEY TO CUT WITH A POULAN!

Can I put a 18" bar on my Poulan 35 CC, If not why.

yes you can put an 18 inch bar on this saw. you could even go with a 20 or 24 inch bar as long as it will fit the saw. I wouldn't go much bigger though because it really doesn't have enough power to handle a much bigger bar. And, getting into the dirt makes the saw chain really dull really quickly. Dig around those roots if you don't want to be stuck sharpening your chain every 10 seconds. Take it to your local saw shop and they can fix you right up! Hope this helps...

Remove chain guard

The OM for your saw is is the best guide. You can download a replacement here (disengage the chain brake first - pull handle aft):
Poulan.com/CurrentModels
http://www.poulanpro.com/node4043.aspx
Type just the model numbers (choose the suffix after the list is provided).

A broad adjustment procedure can be found here. Completely remove the bar cover, slide the bar against the drive sprocket, remove the chain from the bar.

What size chain do i need for a poulan pro 35cc no pp3516 ?

Take it with you to a local chainsaw shop, they can make one to fit. Chain size depends on drive links
e982cd8.jpg The new chain will have the same number as your existing chain. 1 or 2 drive links won't have much impact on the size of the loop; it will impact you ability to tension it. HTH
