For this kind of issue, please follow up the following steps to check:
1.confirm the battery and ac adapter connect the laptop normally.Maybe the bad connect lead to this problem. If there are no lights when you turn on laptop, one of possible reason is that your adapter is malfunction.
2.the second possible cause is laptop dc jack failure. If the dc jack is broken or loose, you are required to replace it or repair it.
3.Another possible reason is that there is something wrong with laptop motherboard. For this situation, it includs two kinds of possibility,a failure in an electronic circuit and BGA malfunction.
For more detailed reasons and solutions, please have a look at the following article:http://www.ifitjams.com/lappower.htm
If you verify your laptop adapter is dead and you plan to order a new one, I recommend one for you on the basis of your laptop model:

if you go to the control panel, to hardware, in the keyboard section you should be able to uninstall the internal keyboards driver which will stop it working.

What I would try to do is first check to see if there is a static IP address. You check this by goto START-MY NETWORK PLACES-VIEW NETWORK CONNECTIONS (in the top left hand side) From there, you should see your LAN,HIGH-SPEED INTERNET then under it you should see Local Area Connection. If there is more than one Local Area Connection connected, then disconnect both of them and try only connection one of them, (i couldn't tell you which one as I'm not there to see which is the onboard NIC) It should be connected, but apparently in your case it may not stay on. Right click on the Local Area Connection, then goto PROPERTIES. The properties box is going to open up. Make sure that Internet Protocal (TCP/IP) is checked, then highlight it and click on the PROPERTIES box, here is where you want to make sure that the (OBTAIN AN IP ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY) is selected, if not, then select it and do the same for the bottom (OBTAIN DNS SERVER ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY)

SOURCE: Laptop keyboard not operational
If you replaced the keyboard with a Dell replacement 1501 keyboard and it still doesn’t work then yes the motherboard will probably have to be replaced. If your son spilled water on the laptop it could clear up after it completely dries. If it was juice, soft drink or sport drink the laptop could develop other issues. The syrup in these kinds of drinks don’t evaporate, they just remain there and accumulate foreign particles like dust, hair, dirt and eventually start to corrode electrical contacts like acid. Similar to the terminal posts on a car battery.
