Question about IBM Wheelwriter 30 Typewriter

Cursor stuck at far right side

My mom thinks her cat walked across the keyboard, thus making the cursor stuck at the far right. She has tried everything, at least that is what she has told me! I told her I would try to get her another one but she likes this one and wants to try to fix it. She has tried holding down margin and ret keys, etc. Any suggestions?

Turn the machine off and see if the carrier will move back and forth , if it dose turn it on allow for the POR, press and release the mar rel key, backspace to the desired L. mar and press the L. mar. key.

Need manual for SC -XE6000 and the right margin is stuck as if locked in the end of a label position about 3/4 across the page. Just purchased at a garage sale.

reset the margin or look for something interfering with the movement try turning it off and manually move the carrier to the left and right it should move with only a slight resistance

On my ibm personal wheelwriter2 it keeps beeping everytime i hit a certain point and i cant make it stop!

Sounds like you have the R. margin set there. Space across to the point you would like the margin to beep, press R. mar key on the L. side of the keyboard.

My typewriter keeps binding up and will not go far enough across

Most likely, the problem is not with the margins. The most common fault (loosing margins) is caused by the carrier binding on the shaft that it travels on. Solution:
Turn off the power
Locate the shaft that the carrier travels on (usually about 1/2 to 3/4 in. diameter, chrome shaft in the middle or lower/rear of the open area that the printer travels back-and-forth in).
Apply a few drops of 10 weight oil acroos the shaft and wipe with a cloth. Move the carrier manually to the right side of machine and repeat the prosess on the left side of shaft. Lubricate some more and repeat the process. NOTE: 3 in 1 oil is OK. . WD 40 IS NOT

Cursor stuck

Perhaps the cat set the L. margin allthe way to the right. Press the mar rel key, backspace to the left end and press L. mar key.

Stuck cursor

Check all keys and make sure none are stuck down. This will lock up the keyboard. Any lights flashing? Any beep patterns?

My keys have locked. How do you unlock them?

If any of the keys are stuck in the down position, it will lock out the entire keyboard so that none of the keys will work.
One think you can try, is turn the typewriter upside down, and hit the bottom of the unit (right above the keyboard). See if there anything that falls out besided dust. Also hit ALL of the keys. Each and every one of them just to make sure non of them are stuck down.
Try this a couple of times, and see if it helps any.
Good luck.
