Question about Pioneer AVIC-N2 Car DVD Player

Pioneer avic-n2 no matter what disc i put in im still getin this screen that says please insert aproprate disc so ill put in the gps disc an it starts to update then says fails and restarts and will keep doin that an thaughts?

Yes they will replace the ribbon cable for free for only one time. but if you did the bypass mod they will unmod it and charge you $200 for doing it. In that case you better of send it to that guy Rich with Same Day Audio Service on Ebay, he will fix it with his company manufactured milspec ribbon cable for I think $85. His cables are much higher quality than Pioneer's and come with a free lifetime warrantee if you have it perform by him or you can purchase the cable from him and put it in by yourself but he won't guarantee it if you do. It not very hard to do if you are a little bit technical incline. I bought a few cables and replaced them myself with the Ribbon Cable Exhausted Tutor Guide on AVIC411.com, but I have figured out a much easier way to do it. Let me know if you need help. SOURCE: where can I get the latest update or downloads for GPS Pioneer avic-s1

Yes I called the Canad number 1-877-283-5901 and they asked for 150 $ for this upgrade. Now a day, one can buy a cheaper new GPS in that amount. I am not going for this option.

AVIC N2 WONT READ MY NAV DISC,WHEN I PUSH MY MENU BUTTON IT SAYS INSERT APPROPRIATE DISC, NOT SURE WHAT DISC IT WHANTS


The nav discs come in a set of two. Disc 1 and Disc 2. Insert disc 1 first, if unit does not respond or read nav disc, then you may have a bad copy of the nav disc or incorrect copy.

Display not working


just got a tech bulletin from pioneer in my bulk mail(almost trashed it). they said its a recall on all avicn1 and 2's. the ribbon wire going from unit to screen fails after many cycles. they are issuing free repair.

Notice: Upgraded Flex-Cable for Flip Screen in Navigation Models AVIC-N1 and AVIC-N2 To: January 3, 2007 Dear Valued Customer: Re: Upgraded Flex-Cable for Flip Screen in Navigation Models AVIC-N1 and AVIC-N2 We would like to inform you of a potential service issue with Pioneer's AVIC-N1 and AVIC-N2, inform you of our plans to resolve this service issue, and ask for your help in notifying consumers. If a consumer is not experiencing any issues currently, there is no need for the consumer to take immediate action because the one-time fix to resolve the service issue will be available if an AVIC-N1 and AVIC-N2 later experiences the service issue. _Importantly, the service issue does not pose any health or safety risk._ Pioneer is aware of a potential issue with the flex-cable powering the flip screen to the AVIC-N1 and the AVIC-N2. Avic bypass


The original Avic N1 only needed to have the parking brake wire grounded for video in motion. Then, the latter series came out and on the underside of the in-dash unit, they have a foil sticker that needed to be removed and a jumper carefully soldered on the circuit board. Avic N2's had a switch installed under this sticker to avoid people from making soldering mistakes. I think the N2 brain may be looking for an N2 unit and giving you trouble. more info on this subject is available @ www.avic411.com.
