Question about Philips 55P8241 55" Rear Projection Television
When I turn my television on, the tv works fine, able to change the channel and the volume. After about 30 mins, I can not turn the television off or lower/raise the volume or change the channel-neither with the remote or using the controls on the tv. I have to unplug the tv for it to turn off.
Another method you may want to try is to take the remote and quickly and repetatively press the power button. This rapid cycling of the power is enough to unstick most stuck power relays and you don't have to get into the insides of your television.

Check the voltage to the relay, usually 12v dc. Also check the relay or replace as it may be stuck after the tv warms up. The micro chip for functions could be locking up. Try spraying a little freeze spray directly on chip after tv is locked up see if this unlocks, if it does you have a bad micro chip.
