Buick lesabre 97 car alarm goes off for no reason why?

Most likely, you have a vacuum leak if steam is coming from your defrost vent in a 1997 Buick LeSabre. There are approximately 600 million passenger cars worldwide (roughly one car per eleven people). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The alarm system on my 2001 Volkswagen Jetta GL keeps turning on by itself

You must have the dealer keep the car until this fault occurs and then scan the security system to see what is causing the triggering of the security system. It is very possible that the drivers door ajar switch or latch switch is defective and it triggers a false tampering signal.

Alarm beeps every 5 mins. I have changed battery and problem still persists.

Tell me what brand your alarm is and I can help you with the beeping. Usually if you hit # it will silence the beeping for 24 hours. Something you can try is finding your main control box. Its usually located in the garage or in a closet. It is tan and 6 x6. First disconnect the battery inside the control box by jiggling off the black/red leeds. Then unplug the power supply. Wait five minutes. Reconnect the battery and plug in the control box. This is completely powering your system down and then repowering it up-essentially "re booting." If this does not correct the issue, give me the brand and I can further help you.

Alarm keeps going off

There a few reasons for your alarm to false trigger. The shock sensor may be too sensitive. The hood or trunk pin may not be making contact. A door may be open or there could be an issue with vehicle's door latch pins.

Alarm not beeping when doors are open. led on door goes red when door is opened and alarm box has red and green lights when alarm is actived but not chimes or alarm when doors are opened

When a zone has both red and green lights on, it means that it is in delay mode. That means when the sensor is triggered, the system will wait for a predefined time interval (30 seconds) for user to reset the trigger. During this time interval, the system will not beep or alarm. But after that, if user does not reset the trigger, system will go off.

User can reset the trigger from keypad or by remote.

I need to disable my alarm on a 1997 bmw 528i.

Now im not sure since the manual says your model has the same alarm system as the 328i and on the 328i you can remove the module to disable by doing the following. you can unplug the control module. It is located under the glove box. Climb under the dash on the passenger side and remove a few screws on the trim panel under the glove box. Theres a black control module with a green connector. There should be a lock tab on the connector. press the lock tab and pull out the connector. The alarm should now be disabled. But if it has the special transponder key this may not work.
But if the only reason you want to disable it is because of the motion sensor setting of the alarm for no reason there is a solution for this. To disable the motion sensor, hit the lock button to arm, then hit lock button again within four seconds to disable motion sensor. Red light on rearview mirror should flash four times, then pause, then start flashing on regular intervals. this is most likely the reason if your having the issue where the alarm goes off every 20 minutes.
If you want to completely remove it below is a wiring diagram taken from the manual for you alarm system.

My alarm keeps going off

Hi,

Most alarms would kick off only when triggered or when faulty.
triggered - could refer to even false triggering, that is even if no intrusion, the sensors senses something and falsely triggers the alarm. This is the most common cause.
Almost all alarms make use of the door switch (the same door switch that triggers the dome light). Since these switches are more prone to being wet, dirtied or accumulate dust and grime, they are more prone to be the culprits. In most instances, it is a matter of remove, clean and reinstall. In some cases, it could be the wire 9to these switches) that were crinked by the door, panel or any metal part thus creating a short to the ground;
Another possibility is the alarm itself. Most alarms have a logic circuitry with external sensors to provide state/condition of its sensors. It is a simple low/high condition. Dust, weather condition (dampness, cold) could affect the sensitivity, electrical characteristic and therefore be falsely triggered. For this, it would require familiarity with electronic circuitry and components, use of a DVM and perhaps even a soldering iron. Should you be uncomfortable performing a DIY, then perhaps your best bet would be to seek the services of a qualified electronics professional.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Laser warning - Multiple false alerts

Although the detector could have internal problems, it is possible that it is coming from a real source.
A route I took between home and business triggered mine along the same stretch every time I passed it and after looking a a map and comparing it with the stretch I drove, I found that the Marine airbase at Miramar California was visible (line-of-sight) between two mountains only along that stretch.

Note if the falsing happens at about the same point each time.
I just learned to ignore the laser alarm if it triggered during that 1-2 mile 'window.'
