Question about Bosch PowerStar AE125 AE125 Whole House Electric Tankless Water Heater...
My father installed a bosch tankless heater in their new house (which is actually a very old house). The furnace was an old coal furnace so he took that out & replaced the heat with electric ductless & some baseboards. Obviously he had alot of rewiring to do & replaced the breaker box with a bigger one, knowing he would also be installing the tankless heater. It was installed in 2006 & worked up until October of 2008. Unfortunately my father passed away in August of 2008 & took alll of his handy man skills with him. My mother is left with no hot water for 4 months now. Calling warrenty was about as pointless as this non working tank as us surviving members of the family are clueless on this. There is only 1 service tech certified to service these tanks in our area (Sugar Notch, Pa) but the cost is just rediculous to have him just step foot in my mothers house.
Heres the run down..... you get VERY luke warm water out of the facets. The red light is on on the box. My mother said it was leaking in the past but my dad did fix it before he passed.
Non of us are fix-it-yourselfers so any suggestions or troubleshooting help would be greatly appreciated!
Here is the run down>
Water too cold Neon light on:
1). Water flow is too high-adjusting the water flow as follow; open fully both inlet and outlet shut-off valves at the heater, then turn on fully the highest flowing hot water faucet closest to the outlet connection. Adjust the outlet shut-off valve until the water flow from the hot faucet corresponds to the approximately 3.6gal/min at 105 degree.
2). One of the power supplies is not on-check the breaker box, there should be three ganged breaker, each corresponds to each of the heater power supply.
3). The power supply voltage has dropped-reset the breaker in the breaker box.
4). Temperature dial is turned too low- temperature adjustment is made using the dial on the bottom edge of the unit. The adjustment is between approximately 95 and 135 degree F. Turning the dial clockwise increase the temperature settings.
5). The inlet water temperature has dropped-readjust the temperature dial.
