The calculator has three different angular modes: DEGrees, RADians, and GRADs. Whichever one it's currently set to, the display will indicate it. To switch between the three modes, press the DRG key.

timing on the chevy motors do not very much.

most of the older 350's timing are set about 8 deg before top dead center. some california smog certified 350 timing were set back to 0 deg or, at top dead center. check under the hood for a smog decal. it should have the timing specs, or it might say "timing not adjustable" or N/A. if it is missing the decal i would set it at 8 deg, road drive it, and listen for enging pinging on accelerating under load. if no ping i would leave it at 8 deg,if there is slight pinging i would ****** the timing in 2 deg increments until the pining stops. i would stop if i reach reach 0 deg or top dead center.

Label of key [deg symbol ' "]. It is between [(-)] and [hyp]

To enter a value in decimal degrees

12.58 [deg ' "] [=] Screen displays 12.58 deg on top line and 12 deg 34' 48" on bottom line.

Pressing the [deg ' "] key while this value is displayed will show 12.58

To enter a DMS value:

Press the [deg ' "] key after each number even if one of the numbers D,M,S is nill (0).

Exemple Enter 25 deg 0 ' 48"

25 [deg ' "] 0 [deg ' "] 48 [deg ' "] [=]

Screen displays 25 deg 0' 48" on bottom line

Pressing the [deg ' "] key converts this result to decimal degrees 25.013

This showed you how to enter angles in DMS or DD. For the rest 'find the angles, etc.' you should refer to your trigonometry manual: You have the definitions of the trigonometric ratios, the sine law, the cosine law to resolve triangles.

Sorry to say it but the DMS key is to convert between Degrees, minutes, seconds and decimal degrees (angle units). This cleared here is how to use the DMS key on this calculator.

Hi,

Maybe some of your answers are wrong, but I can assure you that it has nothing to do with the poor deg indicator sitting on the top of your screen.

The indicator is there to remind you that the angle unit is set to degree, meaning any number you feed a trigonometric function is considered to be in degrees, and that any value calculated by an inverse trigonometric function is in degrees.

If you prefer to work in radians or in grads, all you have to do is change the settings of the calculator.

To change angle unit:

Press [SHIFT][MODE] and choose

I suggest you look at the manual that shipped with your calculator. Lookk for exemples of the calculation you want. Make a note of the exemple numbers and check the appendix for the particular exemple. The appendix will show you all the key strokes.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Hello,

Sorry, I do not know what problem your calculator has, but it certainly is not related to the presence of the DEG indicator in the top**(user inaccessible) **part of the screen. This is an indicator (or a reminder) that the angle unit was set to Degrees. If you change the angle unit to RADian, the DEG indicator will be replaced by another that displays RAD. Whenever the calculator is turned back on again, the angle unit is reset to degrees. What can one do? Better accept it, tolerate it, or ignore it.

**So the gist of the story is that you cannot get rid of the indicators. **

This answer is certainly not what you wanted to hear, but I am only the messenger, albeit one who volunteered to help a fellow human.

Greetings.

the T is top dead center the first make to the left is 10 deg

Mar 09, 2009 | 1978 Yamaha TX 750

That just means the calculator is set to display results in degrees (as opposed to radians or some other measure). It has no effect on anything and you can ignore it.
