Poulan C/S M/n P40 18wtl 802149 Need Technical Support

Engine will not start. Was received at this repair facility with the top throttle shutter missing, and tne fuel line broken. A new carb was installed, with a new fuel line and new fuel filter. The engine cranked after about (3) pulls and ran at top speed and good idle after carb adjustments. It stopped and have not been able to start since. Ignition with in line testor +, compression app.118# after 3-4 pulls, piston and cylinder walls appear generally clean, piston rings appear free, the muffler has been flushed and cleaned. Your comments would be appreciated. John Friendswood, TX

SOURCE: Poulan PP446T Pole Saw. Will run only if choke is

It is running lean. There is an air leak somewhere allowing to much air into the cylinder or crankcase. Continuing to operate lean may cause failure. If fuel delivery lines have no pin holes or cracks probably time for some professional help (pressure tests). Remove clean and reinstall the muffler (carbon fouling can also cause this). If the saw cannot exhale, it cannot inhale. HTH

SOURCE: Hi, I just cleaned my

The fuel pick up or filter should be changed every year but if your saw will start and run good but just not idle then adjust the screw marked T counterclockwise slowly until chain starts to rotate without you depressing the throttle. At that point back it off about 1/16 of a turn until saw will idle but chain doesn't move.Thank you. P.S. If you want to you can go back to factory setting by turning H & L fully closed then open 1 to 1 1/4 turn and very slowly adjust for smoothest operation. Do not adjust H anymore then minimum off factory to avoid engine damage.
If you need further help I would suggest you have a trained tech.service it. Good luck.

If you are driving the 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue and it starts to tugg or stall what could it be

Tugg is not a technical term used in the auto repair industry , now stall on the other hand is . When does it do this ? at a idle , any speed etc... Vacuum leaks , tune up problem , low fuel pressure - clogged fuel filter . dirty throttle plate , idle air control motor or plugged air passages ! Several thing's can cause this . Your best bet is take it to a ASE certified repair facility >

Throttle connections on poulan pro 210 chainsaw

The precision bent throttle connecting rod can only go in one way CORRECTLY.... if it has to be forced or bent, stop and figure out the puzzle before any damage is done.

I'd suggest placing the carb temporarily on the mounting studs on the side of the cylinder. Don't install the filter and nuts etc yet. Take the throttle rod and lay it in place this way and that way until it looks like it matches the trigger end AND the carb end. Usually the carb end has to be installed on the carb while it is removed from the engine as tightness of space won't allow moving it all over to poke it in the hole. Once it is on the carb and you are sure of the orientation, slide the carb once again over the studs and lay the throttle rod by the trigger.

You need about three hands to hold the trigger, trigger lock, trigger return spring and the handle together while you figure out how to snap in the top of the handle and start a screw under the handle.

Hi, Received a used poulan we940rc with broken cable (start, turtle, rabbit). Cannot start engine. Check no sparks on spark plug? Magneto dead? Any manual so I can try to repair if not will scrap. Cao...

You can check for spark by removing the spark plug, reattaching the plug wire and grounding the plug to the head and having someone pull the starter while watching the plug. The start position on the throttle cable actuates the choke on the carb, which is pretty important for a mower with a throttle cable in order to get it to start. Get the model number off the back of the mower and take it to a small engine repair parts shop.

If really helpful, please rate.

Poulan 45cc chainsaw will start running with starting with choke, but will not stay running.

Sounds like the low speed fuel adjustment is out of whack....you can reset it by turning it in all the way clockwise...then as a starting point, turn it out 1 and 1/2 times, start the engine and slowly adjust the screw until the engine starts to choke out..when this occurs, turn it back in until it starts to choke again...then you need to set it somewhere in between to find the "happy medium"....thew high speed screw is adjusted after you get the engine idling properly...if you haven't messed with this then I wouldn't worry about it..unless you have poor high speed operation, then you will need to set the high speed screw...the object here is to obtain the best low to high speed throttle...if , when you throttle up the saw, the engine bogs or goes to high speed slowly , here is where you adjust to get the best throttle response...use small increments until you achieve the desired response

My poulan wild thing chainsaw has 3 tuning screwes h,l,t and they have all been messed up how many turns out do they all need to be from all the way in

Check the fuel filter, air cleaner, and muffler for plugging. Check the fuel lines for decay or other damage. T is the idle speed screw and not critical--just back off about two turns CCW at first. Turn H and L jet screws CCW from stops 1-1/2 turns each--this should allow the engine to start and run. Start the engine and allow to warm up--if the idle speed is too high or low, adjust the speed screw so that the engine continues to run, but the chain is not trying to turn. When warmed up, pull the throttle full on and adjust H needle CW until the engine starts to speed up. Proper final adjustment is when the engine 4-strokes unloaded, but immediately 2-strokes when cutting. Release the throttle and adjust L jet screw CW until the engine idles fairly well, but still allows the engine to 'follow the throttle'. If adjusted too far, the engine will 'gasp' when throttled. Set the idle speed screw to obtain the above conditions. Hope this helps!

POULAN 42CC 18" PP4218 WHAT ARE THEY CORRECT

Make sure the fuel filter, air cleaner, and muffler are not plugged. Make sure the fuel lines are not decayed or other damage. Turn H and L jet screws CW to stops (lightly), then back CCW 1-1/2 turns each. This is a basic setting that should allow the engine to start and run. Allow the engine to warm up, then pull the throttle full on. Adjust the H jet screw CW until the engine starts to speed up. Correct adjustment is when the engine 4-strokes at speed unloaded, but immediately 2-strokes when cutting. Release the throttle and adjust L jet screw CW until the engine idles fairly well, but allows the engine to 'follow the throttle'. If you go too far, the engine will 'gasp' when throttled. Hope this helps!

FUEL MIXTURE SCREWS BEEN ADJUSTED IMPROPERLY. WHAT IS PROPER HIGH -LOW CARB SETTINGS FOR 40CC POULAN CHAIN SAW

Make sure the air cleaner is not plugged. Turn both jet screws CW to stops (lightly), then back each out 1-1/2 turns CCW. This is a basic setting and should allow the engine to start and run. When the engine is warmed up, pull the throttle full on and adjust H jet needle CW until the engine starts to speed up, but still 4-stroking. Correct adjustment is when the engine 4-strokes running free, but immediately 2-strokes when cutting. Release the throttle and allow to idle. Turn the L jet needle CW until the engine idles fairly well, but the engine should 'follow the throttle'. It will tend to 'gasp' when pulling the throttle if you have gone too far. Idle speed screw should be set so that the chain doesn't try to turn, but the engine continues to idle. Hope this helps!

My poulan wild thing 2375 bogs out when throttle

Make sure that the air cleaner and muffler are not plugged. Check the carburetor screws and nuts for tightness. After turning both needles CW to stops (lightly), back them out CCW 1-1/2 turns each. Start the engine and allow to warm up. Open the throttle and adjust the H needle CW somewhat until the engine speeds up, but is 4-stroking. Correct adjustment is when the engine 4-strokes, but immediately 2-strokes when cutting. Release the throttle and adjust L CW till the engine runs fairly smoothly, but allows the engine to 'follow the throttle'. Set the idle speed screw so that the chain doesn't turn, but the engine keeps running. Hope this helps!
