Connecting to my network

Its not a modem its a router. A Modem plugs in to a Telephone line. A Router plugs in to a Broad Band Line. A Modem connects to a RJ11 Cable. A Router Connects to a Coaxial Cabal, the router connects to a computer via wireless or ethernet after that. A Modem connects to a computer using RJ11 or RJ45 Cat4 Ethernet. Very different.

How do i connect my 433i to internet wireless

Generic comment

Your question relates to a Home Based situation???

If your e-machine is wireless capable, you can enable this feature through the network settings in the control panel. You will of course need a wireless router and it will have to be connected to a broad band connection.

alternatively, if your machine has a ethernet port (looks like a phone jack only bigger, you may want to get a ethernet cable and connect directly to your modem or router.

I hope this helps you

Ethernet port not working. can i connect from my dsl by using a usb cable instead.

Yes, if your dsl modem is equipped with a usb option, you can hook it up to your computer but remember to remove the ethernet cord 1st. Both ethernet and usb cannot be connected at the same time. Once connected, your machine may search for a driver to install the modem via the usb port but it should work, especially if it's a westell. Best of luck.

Connection failed

First check your broad band's signal status by opening a DOS command by choosing run in the start up menu. type cmd and then type ipconfig. Next exit and open control panel, choose internet connection then click. Disable first broadband connection and plug out broad band's power supply. After that reconnect altogether and open a web.

I have satellite broad band on the host computer with a lap top via belkin.how do I connect the two computers together as a net work sharing printer internet etc?

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

With the indulgence of jmichelsen4, two ways:
  • a router if the satellite modem uses Ethernet port;
  • a hub or crossover cable if the satellite modem uses USB port on the host computer.
Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

I set my router up as a network and all I want it to do is run a laptop. How do I get it to do just that?

Did you have it working with another computer before? It would normally use an ethernet cable between the router and laptop.
Your laptop needs an ethernet connector (or maybe a USB port if your router supports a USB connector). Sometimes the ethernet port is built into the laptop. It looks like a phone jack (you may have a couple of modem jacks on your laptop, which is not what you want). It's bigger and has 6 wires instead of 4. Another way to connect an ethernet cable to your laptop is a PCMCIA card. They plug into a thin, wide port on the side of your laptop. It also would have the 6-wire jack built into it. Router setup is another issue if you need help with that.
