I have a Hisense 32 inch LCD TV about 3 years old .
The display unit has been damaged beyond repair. I'm told by a TV repair shop that its not worth replacing unless a display unit could be picked up cheap. It may be difficult to even get a replacemrnt display unit here in Ireland.
Is this correct? Do i just write it off ?

Unfortunately, if the panel itself is damaged or defective, the replacement can easily cost the same as a replacement set. Unless you can find another set that has a good LCD but defective boards, the set is not worth the repair cost. Sorry about the bad news.

Firmware update procedure to many popular brand TVs are given with screen-shot details.
The problem with these poorly made (in my view) sets is they are made in China and the company there has gone out of business by my count 2 times---they make poor sets for export and no parts or service literature so when you replace it consider another brand and something worth being repaired.
Yes,tv it is repairables,"NOT" repairable only,if tvs causes by human or object by hitting it screen only. No,if tvs are only damages are to the tvs LCD screen panel itself hitting it by an object or human the tvs,Tvs LCD screen panel itself are not repairable, most tvs, basicly are 90% of it.It is repairable,10% are not worth repairing because of the tvs beyond of the prices of the new tvs or parts are nearly impossible to buy as a refurbish components or as a whole pcb boards.Ur tv now have LED power light indication flashes or dead completely only?Yes.Power supply board are the main causes and problems. That the board where a/c power cord plug into it.U can take things aparts and put it back together basicly?Yes.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish tv power supply board for the replacement.Or Local tvs shops are common on ur telephone yellow pages book and internet yellow pages searches.
This is a manufacturer defect. Take your unit to a Service Center and ASK them to fix it. Since there are no manuals to repair they will give back you tv with a work order.
Make sure you have the Work Order or a Copy. Then Call 1-877-297-8391 and get a new tv
We had a similar issue although our Sony Bravia was 21 months old. We were told by an engineer that the panel has failed and that the cost of replacing it would be about 900. We were also told that this is a very common fault and that the "normal" failure time was within 18mths to 3 years. If you registered your TV purchase with Sony, it might be worth contacting them with the serial number to see if you could get it repaired under guarantee. We have now bought a TV with a 5 year guarantee!!! (not a Sony!!!!)
