My dyson is making a loud scweeky noise

www.sewvac.com Remove the bottom plate and disconnect the belt.If it still makes the noise it is the lower motor that drives the brush that is bad.If it dosent make the noise try cleaning off the hair and debris from the motor pully and replace the belt you will need to take the brush out to do this. While the brush is out check the ends for binding they should turn smoothly with very little resistance also check the area the belt rides on the brush and make sure there is no dirt buildup in the area the cogs of the belt ride in. If it is the lower motor and is less than 5 years old call Dyson and they will generate a work order for a service provider. It may very well be under warranty. !-866-693-9766

The arrows should point in the normal running direction of the belt. If you have the correct belt, tension should not be a problem as it is stretched during placement of the sweeper head. Start the motor for a moment with the motor shaft exposed to determine belt rotation direction. Check the bearing ends of the brush to make sure they are free of debris, and that it spins freely with the belt off. Hope this helps!

Kirby generation 3 won't vacuum. It runs and

You may have suction but if the belt is worn the roller brush won't spin and therefore won't pick up anything. You can get a replacement belt here:

Noise

What does this noise sound like? If it's a squealing noise, chances are that it is a belt going bad. You can purchase a new belt at your local Sears, or probably even your local grocery/department store. The vacuum belt is easy to replace and inexpensive. Instructions for belt replacement are in the owner's manual, or sometime on the belt's package. Hope this helps... Please take a few seconds to rate how helpful this suggestion was. Thanks and good luck!

Burnt smell is probably the belt slipping. Even though it looks OK, either the belt needs replacement and/or the roller needs cleaning and/or lubrication at the ends. Try cleaning the roller ends first and then light lubrication with WD40. If belt works, you are done. If not, replace belt.

Kirby generation 3 fan

You have to take off the top cover, then the handle pivot. Look down at the back of the armature you will see that it has a flat spot, you use a small vise grips or pliers to hold it, turn the belt pulley to the right if I remember right and turn the pulley off. If it won't come free, use a couple of flat blade screwdrivers and pry up to pop the fan off. Then put it all back together.
