Error 1403: print head

Error Number : 1403 Print head problem. Open the printer's cover, then open the Inner Cover, remove the print head and then re-install it. If this message appears again, the print head may be faulty. Replace the print head with the new one.

I have tried replacing all ink cartridges with brand new ones but it keeps saying Error U052 ? I am not really sure why it won't recognize the ink cartridges especially because they are from Canon


The error code indicated, the print head is defective, so it will not get solve by replacing any number of cartridges. Just follow the steps below to reseat the print head, if that does not help, then replace the print head.

  1. Confirm that the printer is powered on and press the <Open> button. (The paper output tray will open.)

  2. Lift the scanning unit (printer cover) completely. (The print head will move to the replacement position.)

    Note: When the scanning unit (printer cover) is opened more than ten minutes, the print head moves to the right side. If this occurs, close the scanning unit (printer cover), and open it again.

  3. Open the inner cover.

  4. Remove the ink tanks by pressing the tab of each tank.


    Caution: Handle the ink tanks with care so that your clothes and surrounding area do not get soiled. Make sure to remove the ink tanks one by one.

  5. Raise the print head lock lever.

  6. Tilt the print head slightly towards the front of the machine and lift out gently.

    Caution: Do not touch the print head nozzles <1> , electrical contacts <2>, or ink supply ports <3>. Doing so may cause printing problems.

  7. Place the print head in the print head holder and lower the print head lock lever carefully until you hear a click.

  8. Insert ink tanks into the print head.

  9. Press the mark <PUSH> on the ink tank firmly until you hear a click.

  10. Ensure that all the ink tanks are installed properly and the ink tank lamps light red.

  11. Close the inner cover and the scanning unit (printer cover).

    Caution: When closing the scanning unit (printer cover), be careful not to jam fingers.

    ote: The next printing begins, the print head cleaning will begin automatically.

Ink Tank Lamp indications

You can check the status of each ink tank according to the way its lamp flashes.

- On: The printer is ready to print.

- Slow flashing (at about three second interval): Ink is low. Prepare a new ink tank.

- Fast flashing (at about one second interval): Ink tank is empty, or the printer is not ready due to an error.

- Off: An error has occurred and the printer is not ready to print.

I have a Canon printer PXMA IP6000 D. I suddenly will not print. I get a code, "Service Error 5200". I have tried turning it off and checking for a paper jam. Nothing works. Can you help me? Gary


1.Reset the printer
Follow these steps to reset the printer:Turn the printer off with the Power button (if available).
Disconnect the data cable from the printer (not applicable to WiFi, Bluetooth or Infrared) .
Unplug the printer's power cord for approximately 10 minutes, and then plug it back in. If troubleshooting a communication issue, reconnect the data cable (not applicable to WiFi, Bluetooth or Infrared).
Turn the printer back on.

2.This is the waste ink reset proceedure and should clear the error (Waste ink absorber full [5B00] )
1. Power off printer2. Hold Resume button then press and hold POWER, the beeper will sound once.3. Keep holding POWER and release RESUME 4. Press RESUME twice, then release all buttons 5. When the indicator lights steady, press RESUME four times. The indicator should be orange. 6. Press Power to set data .
3. According to the service manual error 5200(LED alternateblinking in orange and green) indicates Print head temperature rise error ( The error means the print head is getting too hot.)
- Re-seat the print head
Confirm that the printer is powered on.Open the paper output tray and top cover.
Note: Gently open the paper output tray while holding it.

After confirming that the print head holder has moved to the center, open the inner cover.
Remove all ink tanks. >> click HERE <<

Raise the print head lock lever and remove the print head. >>Click HERE <<

Re-seat the print head into the print head holder and lower the print head lock lever until a click is heard >> Click HERE <<

Insert the appropriate ink tank into the slot at the right end and push down on the PUSH mark on top of the ink tank until a click is heard. Install the other ink tanks in the same manner. >>click HERE<<

Close the inner cover and top cover.
Note: Check that each ink tank is installed in the correct position. >>click HERE<<

5 yellow blinks and nobody else ,


Issue: Alarm / Power light flashes orange 5 times consecutively (Print Head / Cartridge Error)
Solution: Reseat the print head iP3000

Resetting the Printer By resetting the printer's power, the print buffer is cleared and certain sensors are reset. If there is invalid data in the buffer, or sensors are stuck in a particular mode; errors may occur. Follow these steps to reset the printer:
  1. Turn the printer off with the Power button (if available).

  2. Disconnect the data cable from the printer (not applicable to WiFi, Bluetooth or Infrared) .

  3. Unplug the printer's power cord for approximately 10 minutes, and then plug it back in. If troubleshooting a communication issue, reconnect the data cable (not applicable to WiFi, Bluetooth or Infrared).

  4. Turn the printer back on.

Just stopped working, orange light flashing


  • If it flashes orange five times consecutively, that means there is a print head error.
  • Reseat the print head, then reset the printer.
  • To reseat the print head, make sure the printer is on.
  • Open the paper output tray and top cover.
  • Make sure the print head holder is in the center and open the inner cover.
  • Remove all the ink tanks.
  • Raise the print head lock lever and remove the print head.
  • Reseat the print head and lock the lever.
  • Replace the ink tanks.

Hi,
5 time orange flash indicate Cartridge Error or Print Head Error.
1) Reseat the Print Head
  • Confirm that the printer is powered on.
  • Open the paper output tray and top cover. Gently open the paper output tray while holding it.
  • After confirming that the print head holder has moved to the center, open the inner cover.
  • Remove all ink tanks.
  • Raise the print head lock lever and remove the print head.
  • Re-seat the print head into the print head holder and lower the print head lock lever until a click is heard.
  • Insert the appropriate ink tank into the slot at the right end and push down on the PUSH mark on top of the ink tank until a click is heard. Install the other ink tanks in the same manner.
  • Close the inner cover and top cover. Check that each ink tank is installed in the correct position.
2) Reseat the Printer
  • Turn the printer off with the Power button.
  • Disconnect the data cable from the printer
  • Unplug the printer's power cord for approx. 10 minutes, and then plug it back in.
  • Turn the printer back on.

Else either your device require service or print head may need to replace.

I have canon s 300 printer sr no FAYS 12715 some how it does not take paper and green and subsequent yellow light blinking

Put in cartridge error


Hi celcono,

Many times this happens because the Print Head needs reseated.

Here are the instructions from Canon on reseating the print head.

Reseat the Print head Reseating the print head is seldomly required to do.
  1. Make sure the machine is powered on.

  2. Lift the Scan Unit until it locks into place (1). The Print Head Holder moves to the center.

  3. Open the Paper Output Tray (2).

  4. Open the Inner Cover (2). The print head holder (3) should be centered.

  5. Lift up the lock lever and take out the print head. The print head can be removed with the ink tanks installed.

  6. Reinsert the print head back in position and press down the lock lever.

  7. Close the Inner Cover (1) and the Scan Unit (2).

    CAUTION: Press the center of the Inner Cover until the cover locks into place.

  8. After the Scan Unit is return to its original position, the LCD displays a message asking if you replaced an ink tank.

  9. Press [+] and select [NO] to exit.
