Question about Magicard Rio Card Printer
Today, the ribbon snapped in our Rio, which i fixed the usual way by rejoining the rollers. But since i have done this, i am unable to print any cards, although there is no warning lights and the status monitor indicates as "Ready".
I have tried reinstalling the drivers and printer software with the newest software available on the Magicard website but still no printing.
I think it is some sort of communications error because after 5 mins of doing nothing i get the error c600 (file error).
Any advice would be great.
Thanks in advanced.
I'm sure this must be a coincidence.
When the ribbon snapped, did the printer report and 'Out of dye film' error on the PC (via the Status Monitor)?
Did you install the latest version of the driver (V6.02 is compatible with both Rio 1 and Rio 2)?
You can download this here;
Just enter your printer's serial number in the QuickSearch box.
If you are updating to a later driver version, please make sure you choose 'Update driver files' rather than 'Add a printer when give the choice (you will need to restart your PC).
I hope this helps.

Solution to loud noises:
Check the ribbon cartridge and ensure that the cleaning roller is properly installed and rolls smoothly
inside the cartridge. Then check the plate underneath the cleaning roller and verify the 4 pins are seated properly.
Solutions to blurry prints:
1. Make sure the printer has the latest firmware via the web. >> Click Here << to download the latest firmware (Look for "Persona C30e Firmware_Windows/Linux 126.96.36.199 "). The firmware upgrade file is packed in zip file. Extract it to a directory of your choice.
>> Click Here << for an instruction on how to upgrade the firmware. When being prompted to locate the "upgrade file", browse to where you extracted the firmware upgrade file.
2. Calibrate the ribbon sensor. If you have completed these 2 steps and the printer still prints out faded or light cards,
3. Try a new power supply. Part# (E000480). Note: Please verify the proper power supply is being used.
