You most likely have the right margin set there and auto return on,

SOURCE: margin clearing and resetting

You cannot "clear" the margins. You have a left margin and right margin. They MUST be set somewhere even if they are set at the extreme left and right of the carriage. This part is IMPORTANT!!! Some functions (like right margin or margin release) may be written in a different color or shade. If they are, you must hold down the CODE or FUNCTION key while touching that function. In any case, the CODE key or similar will be the same color as the function you are trying to access. Get the printer where you want the margin to be. If you want the left margin set to the left of the current margin you will have use the MARGIN RELEASE key first. This may be labeled MREL or MAR REL or something similar. Backspace to where you want the margin to be then press the LMAR or LEFT MARGIN key. That will set the left margin at that point. Repeat the process for the right margin. Hope that helps Ed

SOURCE: reset left margin

Turn machine ON and return to what is set as the left margin. then press the MAR REL key (upper left side) one time and then press the BACKSPACE the number of times to get where you want to set the left margin.
Once you are at the desired position for the LEFT MAR then press LEFT MAR ONE time and it should be set OK.
Hope this solves your problem, sneaky pete

SOURCE: L.C. Smith & Bros. typewriter No. 5 Margin setting

Make sure the carriage lock switch isn't on (presuming it has one). A carriage lock switch prevents the carriage moving when in transit (say, inside its case). These switches are usually located on the right hand side of the carriage, slightly underneath.

I have a panasonic electric typewriter R330 and it only types about in inch then stops how can i fix it?

The right margin is probably set. Hit margin release( MR) and see if it types, if so reset your right margin. Also something could me binding or caught in the path. maybe a correction ribbon or something is blocking it.

There should be a margin release key. It may say MAR REL or Be 2 vertical lines with arrows or a key with mar rel printed above it that requires the use of the code key. When you stop press MAR REL space to desired R. margin mlocation press R. MARGIN KEY.
