Whirlpool model et18tk and the side of the fridge gets hot? It it junk?

This is normal unless the refrigerator is not cooling properly. There is a pipe that goes around the door that carries hot Freon to keep the doors from sweating where the cold inside meets the warm air outside. This area will become extremely hot should the airflow below the refrigerator become obstructed or the condenser fan below the refrigerator not be working properly

Fridge quit cooling. The heating element works and propane works. Gets really hot but fridge does cool. There was no smell of ammonia and no yellow residue. What could it be?

How can "fridge quit cooling" but later you say "but fridge does cool" of course this absorption cycle system gets hot on the outside, heat is the "driver" of the system rather than an electrically driven compressor in the normal fridge. Is this a homework problem?

condensor coil is clogged up, or condensor fan is not running.

Bought an upright Frigidaire Freezer on Craigslist and the inside gets cold and works like a champ but the outside side panels get very hot- is this normal or is there a short?

If there is a short circuit, the circuit breaker protection in your house wiring would trip (Open the electrical circuit path).

It is normal for the condenser, which is on the outside of the appliance to be hot because it is transfering the heat from inside the freezer cabinet to the ambient air outside the cabinet. Make sure that you give the appliance enough space all around the hot condenser so that it can transfer its heat to the surrounding air efficiently.

P.S. Some freezer designs integrate the condenser coils into the metal cabinet, thus the hot side panels.

My samsung fridge side walls gets very hot to touch what is the reasons? why it is heated?

the coolant lines run throught cabinet of the fridge.there will be some heat felt on the outside of the fridge and the center divider, if the temp is real warm to the touch then you might have a condensor fan thatis not operating causing excess heat.

Half-way up on the outside of the frig. gets hot also get some water in dump pan on bottom ? any suggestions?

heat in the cabinet is normal due to a conds. cooling loop inside of the cabinet, excessive heat is due to a condenser clogged with dirt or a broken condenser fan, replace or clean as needed.

Refrigerator does not cool

If the refrigerator cooling is poor, it may be a problem with the thermostat, the compressor, or the evaporator fan. If ice is accumulating at the back of the fridge, that can also be a reason for poor cooling.

See aso the links below for a more detailed explanation:

Koolatron Mini Fridge Overheating

Check the condensor fan behind the fridge which is designed to cool the compressor/gas line by blowing air over the condensor. When this fan motor seizes or stops running, the gas gets very hot and because it is skin cooled too, the outside of the fridge also gets very hot. You can overcome the problem temporarily by putting a standing fan behind the fridge, blowing onto the compressor and under the fridge untill you can have the problem rectified.
