This happens to my LG dishwasher every 6 months or so. It also makes a groaning sound as if the system is starved for water. I resolve the problem by removing the dishwasher and laying it over on it's right side. I then remove the two plastic assemblies (they are translucent enough that it is obvious that they have some gunk build up) that are on the left side and I remove them from the dishwasher (you will need a vice grips to remove the hose clamps from behind them, you will also need to remove the round circular water intake plastic disk that is on the inside of your dishwasher on the left hand side right in the middle of the left wall) and clean them. Once the water can run freely through these plastic parts you will get a good water flow and you should be fine. Until you have time to do this I recommend putting a few quarts of hot water into your dishwasher once you start to hear the groaning problem. This solution should be very easy for anyone who is comfortable doing their own oil change. Oh, and turn off the power supply first. I think the origin of the problem might be too much food on the plates and too strong of a dishwasher gel detergent so the food is turned into gunk which coats the channels of the plastic assemblies.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France @16:30 Mon afternoon.
Although I do not know your particular model I suspect that either-
1) the drain motor lint tray/filter is blocked (VERY common problem and worse in 'hard' water areas- lots of calcium) or
2) the drain motor is malfunctioning.
I would go for the filter. Your machine may be programmed to check for a blocked filter- not all are.
Take off the lower front cover, probably held in by some plastic screws which turn 90 degrees anticlockwise to remove or the panel simply pulls away.
NOW- REMOVE POWER FROM THE MACHINE AND HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE (TO GO UNDERNEATH THE FILTER AREA) AND/OR LOADS OF RAGS TO SOAK UP THE (EXPECTED)WATER.
The filter should be removable by its round cover. If it will not come out easily you will need to spend some (patient) time maybe squirting anticalc fluid around it and gently working it out.
The drain motor should be visible and be able to be turned by hand/finger and not jammed by detritus. If it is -clean it! The same goes for the filter of course.
I hope this cures your problem- and that it is not the drain motor itself. Although relatively easy to change, a motor is another expense- and another delay!
Best of luck,

it may vary depending on the model number. if you google "maidaid dishwasher xxxx manual" where xxxx is your model number you can find the manual that should tell you how to fix that issue.
