Hi,

best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

How do i fix error ox800106ba

Hi Anon,
The 0x800106ba error may occur after Windows Defender is updated due to the computer's inability to update the Windows Defender firewall. It may not have applicable permissions needed for the update, or it may not have the files necessary for updating itself.

The Fix

Set Windows Defender to Automatic - You can set the Windows Defender service to Automatic, Disabled or Manual. Setting it to automatic might solve the problem. Follow these steps:
  1. Click Start > type services in the Search box > click Services in the Programs list.
  2. If you are asked for a Password before you continue, then enter the password > click Continue.
  3. Double-click Windows Defender, and click Automatic in the start-up box > click OK.
Uninstall and reinstall Windows Defender - If the first procedure did not help resolve the problem, try un-installing and then reinstalling Windows Defender. Due to the fact that Windows Defender is a Windows component, we will use AppWiz to un-install it from the computer. Follow these steps:
  1. Press Windows Key + R > type appwiz.cpl > Press Enter
  2. Click Windows Defender > click Remove
  3. Follow the prompts to uninstall Windows Defender

Let me know how you go!

Windows Defender 0x800106ba Service Error on Automatic Startup

Some times even when the Windows Defender service is set to automatic you still might see the Error below and even when you have tried this site http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931849 which tells you to remove the program and then use the windows installer cleanup utility form HERE and start again you still get the same error

d349a7d.jpg

This is a method is bit drastic I suggest that first you update manually the definitions from HERE then download my Windows Defender FIX from my Public SKYDRIVE then restart you PC it should now fix the above error it will re-register all the DLLs that are needed to allow the error to go

I using a kaspersky 2011 antivirus and its showing yellow exclamation mark on kaspersky icon. please help me how to solve this problem

Usually the yellow exclamation mark means you need to update the program's AV definitions.
Just run the update tool within the program, this should get rid of the symbol.

Unable to download vista service pack 2 from website. As soon as i click enter system shutdowns What should i do? As i using Genuine Vista premium edition

The first thing you might try is if you have auto-updates on for Windows, turn it off. Start>control panel> and either security center (WinXP) or Windows Updates, if you're running Vista. In the windows update window, in the left menu is a selection called 'Change Settings'. Click on this to turn updates off and on and to control how updates are handled.

Is your system shutting down only then? You may have a virus or other nasty. If you have an antivirus program installed please update the definitions and run a virus scan. If you don't have a current antivirus program installed download Antivir here . After you download it drop the download window into your task bar by select the _ in the upper right corner of the window. If you have another antivirus installed but the subscription has run out and you can no longer update it, remove it by going to start>control panel>add/remove programs (XP) or Programs and Features in Vista. Allow the list to populate and then uninstall the antivirus program. Also, in Vista you must disable 'Windows Defender' before installing Antivir. Start>control panel>Windows Defender> and scroll down to where it says, "use Windows Defender". Deselect that setting and that should turn it off. At any rate Antivir will alert you that's Defender is on and will give you instructions as to how to disable it. Upon successful install of Antivir it will automatically update the virus definitions and then initiate a virus scan.

You can also download and install Malwarebytes and run a quick scan. Malwarbytes can be found here: http://filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/

Once you've installed the program it should automatically launch and then do a database update. If it doesn't update on the tabs the third tab is 'update'. You can manually update the database from there. This program is pretty intuitive and easy to use. Just do a quick scan which is selected by default. You will probably have to let the program reboot to clean anything it's found at load up of the system.

Please let me know if this helps. If not we can try to find another solution.

Unable to check for updates with Windows Vista Home Premiun, SP1, 32 bits, error code 80244019 for Windiws Update and 0x80244019 for Windows Defender, last update instaled Jan/01/09

I've been having the same error when I try to run Windows update on a Vista Ultimate machine setup for use with our SBS 2003 server running ISA 2004.

The Solution that I found is this.

When you setup Vista for use with a domain it creates the following regkey with a subkey etc ( policy ) that sets Vista to look for a WSUS server.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate]
"WUServer"="http://serversbs"
"WUStatusServer"="http://serversbs"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU]
"NoAutoUpdate"=dword:00000000
"AUOptions"=dword:00000004
"ScheduledInstallDay"=dword:00000000
"ScheduledInstallTime"=dword:00000003
"NoAutoRebootWithLoggedOnUsers"=dword:00000001
"RescheduleWaitTime"=dword:00000001
"UseWUServer"=dword:00000001

When I deleted this key and rebooted my PC windows update was working.

Hope this was somehow usefull

Your problem is likely related to a bad update from Kaspersky - it happens once in a while and will likely be fixed on their next update.
