Thanks for trying but I found how to adjust the brightness of my screen and here is how i did it. I held down the function key (lower left of keyboard) then pushed the f7 button a few times and that did it! For brightness you would push the f8.

Right mouse click anywhere on the blank wallpaper background on your main screen, then choose properties from the drop down menu, then click on the settings tab, then the advanced button on the lower part on the display properties window. Once opened you can navigate to the tabs to adjust your display. good luck, let me know how you fare.

How do I adjust brightness and contrast

On a MacBook try hitting F1 and F2. You'll notice they have small little icons to signify less bring and more bright.
Also doable via the display Preferences (Apple Icon top left, Preferences, Display).

Adjust brightness screen

Please try to give as much detail as possible. Model/year is useful, so I'm going to have to take a blind leap.

On the function keys along the top row of the keyboard, you should see two keys that looks like a sun. On my keyboard of a 2013 MacBook Air, it is F1 and F2. While holding down the "fn" key (bottom left had corner) press F1 and F2 to adjust as you wish.

The other way is: Settings --> Display then click on the Display tab, from there you can adjust the brightness.

The picture is very dark and want to brighten it

If your keyboard doesn't have a brightness control button (mine is F6), open System Preferences and click on the Displays control panel. Move the brightness slider to the right to increase brightness. If you don't want the computer to automatically adjust brightness uncheck the box next to Automatically adjust brightness as ambient light changes.

Adjust brightness

Hi Valerie.
Brightness is adjusted via keys on the keyboard or through the monitors/dispalys control panel in System Preferences.
If you have a screen that is excessively bright (which does seem to happen on these laptops) you may need to visit an Apple store to have it looked at. I've seen several where the screen is so bright it's difficult to read text and adjusting the brightness has not had any noticeable effect.

Monitor dims and brightens constantly

This is because of the ambient light sensor. You can turn the option off in System Preferences>Displays>Automatically adjust brightness as ambient light changes

Screen flickering

Not sure if this is your issue, but when the brightness is on full with AC plugged in, the ambient light sensor isn't as sensitive. Unplugged, it is. The ambient light sensor judges the light in the room and responses by automatically adjusting the brightness. What you could be seeing is your shift in movement blocks/allows more light to the sensor (the camera at teh top) and thus adjusting your brightness. To disable system preferences> display> uncheck "automatically adjust brightness.

Also, it may be the LCD, If you are in warranty, bring it to your local Apple store for repair.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe
