Question about Panasonic PT-56LCZ70 56" HDTV
Ok, I have a just over 5 year old (out of warranty I suppose) Panasonic PT 56LCZ70. When trying to power on the green light blinks for several minutes, fan comes on but no light. I acutally Unplugged the tv for a week or two and went back in tonight to see if any better and initially the same problem so I thought the bulb was shot. I was messing with the power button on the tv (press and hold like a computer) and the tv came on working fine. Great picture sound etc. Left it on for about a half hour and it looked great. Turned off and went throught the normal cool down of a few minutes before shutting off. Tried to turn back on and no luck whatsoever. Back to long period of green flashes of power lamp then eventually two red blinks on lamp light. Could this be a power or diode issue as opposed to a lamp or are all the components part of the lamp assembly. I know this is not usually a user servicable lamp replacement but I did watch a tech tear down this tv twice when we first bought it to replace a noisy fan. I have built computers for years and if its a straight forward process I may consider replacing the lamp myself as paying for labor will likely make it not worthwhile as compared to purchasing a new set. Is there anything else I should be checking? Also seem to be finding several compatible bulbs online and may be the difference between new and refurbished?
I would think that the fact that when you held the power button in for a long time that would give you a hint! If the power button is making a poor contact there will be a small surge of power and some parts of the internal circuits will respond(indicator lights, for example). Try REPLACING THE ON/OFF BUTTON.

SOURCE: PT-52LCX65 Lamp Meter
first off all it's not necessary to have the TV on to reset it. the problem is the dmd need to send the info that you have a working lamp.
try this to see if it work's
Panasonic TY-LA1000 TV Lamp Reset Procedure/instructions:
Ok, so apparently there are a couple of different ways forum members have found out how to reset their Panasonic Lamp timer (this should apply to all of them, not just the TY-LA1000 specific lamp)
“Hold the VOL down button on the TV and the SPLIT button on the REMOTE for five seconds”
Again, you will need to press the Volume button on the TV while pressing hte SPLIT button on the Remote Control for five seconds, it will NOT work if you try to do it both from your remote!
