1. make sure that the coolant is at the correct level.
2. when it is running hot the cooling fan(s) should be running or it will get hot. If the fan(s) are not running check the fan switch, fan relay, and the fan for correct operation. The fan switch should have continuity once engine is about 195+. The relay should click taken out of the system and 12 volts is applied to the smaller two relay terminal; at the same time it clicks, the larger two relay terminals should have continuity. Unplug the fan at the connector and apply 12 volts dc to fan side of the connector and the fan should turn on.

Yeah, I'm from Minnesota, so know what you mean. You need to check the flow of air. A couple things. Is it any better if you have the re-circulator on? Also, does the temperature gauge vary any between idle and driving?

Try idle in neutral with the engine running at driving RPM - does that make a change?

I suspect a flow restriction at low RPM.

shaking while idling means that base of engine may need to be changed.

ok if you are runing on the fwy and let go the gas pedal the only air is coming in from the idle valve and on neutral the same ting what about wen you start the car first the rpm is high 1400 or 1500 then going down wen it get hot that car had two valves the cold idle valve and electric valve the electric valve control the regular idle wen the car is hot after the cold valve is closed
