How do I get my printer to turn on it won't turn on I unplugged it but still nothing

IF you unplugged it from the power source and it wont turn back on then you first need to check the power supply with a meter to see if it is bad. IF there is power to the plug where the printer connects, then the issue is inside the printer, if the unit has no external power supply then the issue is inside the printer. Since the model and make were not posted, that is all the assistance I can offer.

It wont turned on

If you are encountering power problems with your printer, please go through the following checklist:

  • Make sure the power cord is plugged in securely and directly to the power outlet. Power surge protectors can draw power away from the printer.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the power outlet and the back of the printer and then reconnect it.
  • Check the power supply box (if there is one) to see if it is warm or cold, as there could be a defective power supply issue.
  • If there is access to a voltmeter, test the power supply to ensure that it registering the correct amount of voltage (most Lexmark printers have a 30Volt output).
  • Make sure the correct power supply is connected to the printer.

My printer wont turn on even though it's connected to direct power supply. Why wont it turn on?

Generally the troubleshooting steps are:
  1. disconnect the printer from the data cable to the computer and plug directly into a wall outlet bypassing any power strips/battery backup and then see if it will power on. If it does, run a self test and see if it prints.
  2. If still in a no power state, unplug the power adapter from the wall and the printer, wait 5 minutes, then plug into wall, then in to printer and try to power on again.
  3. If still no power and under warranty, contact manufacturer for repairs/replacement.
  4. If not under warranty and an Inkjet, almost assured it will be less expensive to replace than to repair:

Zebra zm400 printer suddenly will not power up

This is a thermal label printer. Some of these have power supplies like a pc, make sure you did not trip the power off button on the back by accident. In addition, make sure the power cord is still good by subbing it out with a known working one. If it has a power supply fan, verify it moves at least - even if you have to knock it with a pencil if it wont start at all. (if it does move and no power - could be a fuse inside the power supply).

My HP Deskjet printer won't turn on even the power supply is ok.

Loose cables. Ensure all cables are tightly plugged in. If that doesn't help it could be a major hardware failure.

Is the printer connected to a power bar?

If YES, kindly remove it from there then directly plug-in the printer's power cable to the walloutlet

you can also try other walloutlets

If still not working, then it's time to replace the printer's power supply or the adaptor or the printer itself.

Power surge, now wont turn on

The power supply is a separate part and only runs around $29.00, even with labor it should be less than $100.00 to repair.

I am trying to do this from memory as I don't have that model in front of me. turn the printer on. then while the printer is on unplug the power lead (don't turn the printer off first)
hold the OK and cancel buttons and plug the power supply back in. keep holding the buttons until the printer powers off. release the buttons, unplug the power lead and after 10 seconds replug in the lead and and switch the printer on.
this is an NVM reset whcih should clear any "hangs" in the printer.
Let me know!
