Go to Control Panel, then Device Manager, it will show you if you have Wi-Fi or not and if is enabled. If it is disabled, enable it here.

You can also buy a USB Wi-Fi adapter compatible with Windows 7 Operating system.

Wi fi card remove computer startworking

Remove and reinstall driver...possibly replace Wi-Fi card. Are there 2 Wi-Fi cards? Go to device manager (Windows?) and see if it thinks your card is working or not. Yellow ! means it has a problem. And that's where you uninstall it. Reboot and see if that helps.

Is there a wi-fi swtich on thinkpad r52?

IBM load there own set of software on there notebooks which take care of networking lan and wi-fi, I have found if try to use the windows native wireless checker it does not pick the networks up. Try using the IBM program either in the taskbar near the clock or in the start menu.
Also in Device Manager does the wi-fi device show up.
There also may be a light that indicates wi-fi is on on at the front or or above the keyboard if its off let me know.
Other possibility is to uninstall the driver for the wireless device restart and let it reinstall automatically.

No Wireless Connection

Let’s check the Wi-Fi card on your PC. Go to "Device Manager" and look if any yellow or red alerts are being displayed under the Network Adaptors. If not, make sure the Wi-Fi card shows up under Network Adaptors. To access the "Device Manager" go to the 'Control Panel", "Administrative Tools", "Computer Management" and select "Device Manager" located in the left side column.
If there is an alert, double click on that device to determine the problem, i.e.… device not configured, cannot start this device, etc…
