I have a similar problem, but I've got not a cradle of filth but SALITY virus...It blocks the registry edit and task manager, all anti-virus programs, anti-virus websites, firewalls etc.

    O7 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System, DisableRegedit=1

The above line keeps coming back even when I fix it in HiJackThis.

Can anyone help me with removing this virus? Is it removable at all?

Also, this virus is transferred by removable drives so you need to be careful about any flash drives you have used lately.

Do you see that "cradle_of_filth" about 12 lines up?

    It's a virus.

    Here is some info:

This site has a patch but it is a compressed .rar file. Do you have a compression utility, like Winzip or other?

ok, you just need to remember the time the virus attack, and then perform system restore(if u dont know how to do system restore plz leave your comment, u already use hijack this and just delete the cradle of the fifth entry, if it appear mnot solve your problems perform system restore, the point is whenever a virus attack your pc the anvirus or software like hijack this can remove the virus but the changes they made to your sytem remain the same. So you need them to be removed first and perform system restore. there are other method of repairing your system beside system restore, but this is the first option. ok let put the rate u give me aside, if you really want to remove the virus reply to my comment, i just want to help, another thing is if you know how to repair window is better but lets try with system restore.

My Compaq Presario CQ56 has calculator that keeps popping up when I press the arrow keys or the numerical keys. Please help!!

Well what I really wanted to know the most is if it pops up while you\'re not even touching your mouse or keyboard...

If you changed your .exe to .com like I said and it came back, then it\'s normal... ... Just delete the calc.com file. Don\'t worry, calc.exe came back on its own so the calc.com we made is now useless. That\'s why you can now delete calc.com. It\'s also just to reset what was in your old calc.exe, in case it has a keyboard shortcut and other hidden stuff integrated.

Still gotta make sure though... Can you right-click on calc.exe and choose "Properties" to see if there\'s any keyboard shortcut? The field (shortcut key) should be left blank in case there\'s something in there. Or to "None".

IF the calc.exe still pops up while you\'re not doing anything, then it\'s time for some hijackthis.

Get it here:

http://www.download.com/Trend-Micro-Hijack...4-10227353.html

Do a system scan and save a logfile.

After the scan is over, copy all what\'s in the list (notepad), and post it here.

Let\'s take a look at what\'s running.
