SOURCE: replacing PB010036 Bake / Broil Thermostat Viking

you do not need to take apart any switches, all you need - unplug it from power, open front panel (2 screw on each side) remove all knobs, there is 3 more screws behind them). unscrew thermostat 2 screws behind knob. open top part of stove, remove grates and cover. you will see wires to thermostat unplug them and plug one by one to new thermostat. remove old thermostat from inside the oven (it has bracket inside). put the new one. close everything back.

SOURCE: Replacing lower oven element in

The wiring should be safe with the oven off, but it is always better to be 100% sure and turn the power off at the switchboard.

SOURCE: How do I replace a broken stem on the griddle knob

You would remove all of the knobs and then you remove the screws holding the face panel on there. Then you can access burner valves. The new part may not come with a preset orifice because the factory does not know which type of gas you have. So what they do is tighten the orifice all the way down. Lets see if I have a viking service manual:

Eaton viking imperial electric, stove oven door will not close completelty; circa 1996. are replacement hinges still availible?

To the owner of the Eaton Viking stove RS3028W-1, yes you CAN get replacement hinges!
I too, have this stove model (circa 1996) with exactly the same problem and I have spent the past 18 months looking for replacement oven hinges. I was very frustrated at the thought of having to throw out a stove that cooks and bakes wonderfully and has not needed any repairs till now and having to buy one of the new subpar ones that constantly need repairs. Plus you can't do canning on the new stoves and the few remaining coil models are extremely poorly made.
I have found 2 places that carry the hinges.
1. Reliable Parts, 1-800-663-6060. This company is located in Montrea (St. Leonard), Quebec.
2. Appliance Shark, 1-800-663-1176. This company is located in Barrie, Ontario.
The part number for the hinge is: 318-024-741

I hope this is helpful, and may you have many more years of happy cooking on this great stove.

One of the oven ignitors does not work

Most likely replacing the ignitor will fix it. I usually replace Viking ignitors with Maytag ones, part number 12400035 (you'll need splice wires and use included wire nuts to connect those, though). Those have a little shorter base, which does not affect anything. Replace both bake ignitors if you can, otherwise, one of the burners will ignite slower and shut off faster, resulting in uneven bake.

Stove oven wont work..

Yes, you can use the Eaton Viking element in place of the Gibson element as long as all mountings are the same.
You should use ceramic washers between the element and the casing to prevent it from grounding out...which is what probably happened to the element in the first place.
Be sure to look for chapped or burnt wiring BEFORE replacing the element. Also look for burnt connectors.
Hope this help you! :)

Oven does not heat up, element problem

For the element you could check at www.repairclinic.com
with respect to replacing the heating element you did not say which one it was (bake or broil). But you should be able the replace the elements by (first unplugging the unit) removing the scews from the panel at the back of the unit. Once removed you should have access to the "stab on" connectors - undo them then undo the two screws that secure the element inside the unit. replace with new one and reconnect and redo screws

Viking oven won't turn on

I had same problem (twice) with my Viking dual fuel range. In my case a relay that supplies power to the oven heating elements failed. The convection fan would run. The elements were warm to the touch. If you have a free standing range, it may be that relay (part number PM010026) which is located in the front of the stove. Remove a long narrow stainless steel panel (1 screw each side) located under where the door hinges. You can hear the relay click when you turn up the oven thermostat. That will help you locate the relay.

Note: Viking does not sell parts. You have to find their parts distributor for your part of the country.
