Replacing CR1620 lithium battery for Ultramax OB24

For consumers with the Brita Ultramax (OB24), the one with a digital memo. Here's how you can modify the battery housing for replacement.

Important: It is best to take pictures along the way so you know where the parts go during re-assembly.

I attached photos along on bottom of page for easy viewing.

1.) Remove the battery housing unit from the cover. It is easier if you unclip the small cover off from the larger (main) cover to do this. Carefully pry along the edges with a butter knife until the housing is raised up enough for you to pull if off with your fingers.

2.) Turn the housing upside-down (LCD reader faced down). Now carefully cut/slicing along the topside outer edges of the battery unit with a razor blade. Make sure it is cut evenly so that it can be reused as a 'cover'.

3.) After it is cut and exposed, tap the internals out of the clear plastic housing so you can get access to the battery. Stick something thin (such as the newly cut plastic cover) through the battery lever and push the CR1620 battery out. Replace battery, put everything back into its plastic housing.

4. After everything is reassembled with its new battery, put the (cut) plastic cover piece back, hold gently and wrap some clear packing tape such as 3M. You'll have to measure the tapes and cut them to fit. Secure the top portions with tape, then wrap along the sides to secure the rests.

Dropped my Leica

Hi,

Try the steps given below:
1 Remove the memory card, then install the new batteries, when you turn it on it should work.
2 The next thing to try is examining both the battery and flash card door. There's usually a little switch on both doors that activates when the doors are closed. It will be a little piece of plastic on the door that pushes in on a pin switch when the door is closed. Closely examine both doors to try to identify these switches. A lot of times that little plastic nib wears down or breaks off, but can easily be a jury rigged with a small glued-on replacement.

If you still face the problem then there is some internal problem in camera, you need to take to service center to get it repaired.

Hope this helps.

Film advance shows double exposures and spacing problems. What is the problem?

The film advance mechanism is broken.

Given the very high value of your camera it's definitely not a DIY repair. Although a professional repair will not be cheap, it will definitely make economic sense compared to the cost of replacing your M6, so send it to your nearest official Leica servicing agent.

Exposed film is stuck in the camera. Rewind crank won't budge and I'm not going to force it.

Hi,
If you need to save the pictures you will need to find a dark room and open the back to see what jammed up. Good Luck !!!!!!!!!

Broken battery compartment door switch

The switch is a micro switch that is depressed(and not sad :)) by a plastic tag moulded on the battery cover. Once the cover is moved into position and closed, the tag presses on the micro switch closing the switch and thus removing the error message. As with any switch, a switch is simply open or closed, Open = high resistance or O/L, while closed = 0 ohms reistance. You can use a small wire to overcome the switch by soldering the wire to both tags of the switch so it is permenantly 0 ohms. This will send a message to the microprocessor that cover is closed and camera ready for use. Hope this helps.

I can't say whether your specific camera / lens combination will work, but bear in mind all teleconverters result in some loss of image sharpness (especially 2X models.) You will also lose about 2 stops of light.

Sigh... There's just no real alternative for big, fast glass :-)
