Question about Panasonic Palmcorder PV-GS200 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

When camcorder is turned on the screen shows red or yellow screen

When I turn on my Panasonic PV-GS200 camcorder the screen shows red color or sometimes yellow. I have tried recording to see if it is just the view finder but when played back it is red or yellow also. I have tried going into the menu to try to change the color but nothing works. I'm frustrated...any ideas?

I have the same problem of picture distortion when recording on my PV-GS200 camcorder. It's due to a faulty CCD block, which you can read about on various websites. I can play back pre-CCD failure tapes without a problem. Panasonic recalled quite a few GS200 camcorders with specific serial numbers in the US and Canada, and replaced the faulty 3-CCD chip free of charge. I just discovered this tonight and intend to ring Panasonic tomorrow, as the camcorder - bought new - lasted only two years before the CCD fault became apparent. Obviously, the camcorder was not of merchantable quality.

You need 3 cables Yellow, (Video) + Red & White, (Audio L&R Stereo) Or Mini-DIN, for SVHS Video cable, this is ONLY for Video, Audio, is still Red & White. Or Component, where you have 3 Video Sockets, cables, Green, Red, Blue, All video, all color to color, both ends, and again Red & White for Audio. Sometimes there is FireWire, or HDMI you need a cable and the PC MUST also be equipped, You need software and drivers for FireWire, of HDMI..

Hi!
It has to be a faulty imager (CCD). You should contact your local Panasonic service center as they should be the only ones who can change the CCD.

Hope this helps!

CCD sensor faulty and has to be replaced. A properly manufactured CCD transduced should last +-15 years so you should isist on having it repaired free of charge by Panasonic agent. ( worst case pay for labor but not the faulty component : 1 hour labour with this problem ).
