Question about Acer Aspire 3680 Laptop

Unable to recover system

I have acer aspire 3680 tried system restore get none of the screens they say I should. Purchased recovery disk and still get nothing. When I put system disk in indicate loading ramdisk image then just blue screen

    I turn on my laptop then press F2 appears to setup and i do then it says Please wait, after that it says Enter Password and i do but if i accept then it says System Disabled or if i press Esc to exit it says system failed. Either way i cant do anything with it. Please help

See if your system restore is in my computer c:\ drive
should be there it will probably say acer on the folder

restart while in restart press F7 then when options appear select boot with cd or cd/dvd
then enter this will start the system with the cd
if it does'nt start the win setup then restart might need to try a couple times
if setup still does'nt start then make sure the cd is the right recovery disk

Acer Aspire 3680 startup, blue screen & cursor only


  • prior to the recovery... have someone pull your hard drive and recover the "precious" files & pics on the drive... It's expensive at Best Buy... so watch out!!!
  • System recovery shouldn't have you loose all files.. if a recovery point is there... the trick is to only recover to the most recent point that you can. When Windows updates the software to Service Pack X for example, a recovery point would have been created automatically

I have an ACER Aspire 3680 and have made the recovery disks, however, they will not perform the complete system restore...Am I doing something wrong? When I get to the screen that gives me the option to do...


Acer's recovery needs some work. If it is still under warranty, they should give you new disks for free. I've done it for a customer before.

If its not under warranty, then you might try just using the restore partition, unfortuantly this only works if you can get into windows beucase you have to activate it from the eRecovery software. Like I said, they need to do some work.

http://www.acerpanam.com/us Go to that website and click on "eRecovery Disc Purchase". Acer does not come with recovery discs. It only comes with a recovery partition from which you can make recovery discs. If they discs were not made you'll find the provided website useful. If you're trying to recover from your recovery partition, then continuously hit the F11 key at startup. This F11 option is not always displayed. If this doesn't work then your hard drive is corrupt or damaged and you will need the discs (and potentially a new hard drive).

Acer computer's do not ship with recovery CD's - there is a program that allows you to burn the disks or recover.
3 ways to recover:

1. If in Windows - Start - Programs - Acer empowering technology - Acer E-recovery management -
click on Restore at bottom then "Restore to factory default settings"
2. Or click on Burn disks instead of Restore
3. If unable to boot into Windows then tap Alt/F10 during boot right after Acer splash screen when starting up the computer.
4. This will start the Acer E-recovery program - choose Factory Default Settings and follow instructions.
