How to Reset Your iPod b> Toggle the "Hold" switch to the "On" position, then "Off." The "Hold" switch is the small sliding switch on the top of the iPod. Move it to the "On" position to show an orange rectangle. Move it back to the "Off" position to show a white rectangle. Hold the "Menu" and "Center" buttons. Press the 2 buttons at the same time for between 8 and 10 seconds. Your screen will go blank and then boot up with a dark Apple icon. The icon eventually turns bright and brings you back to your main menu once the reset is complete. Check your iPod to make sure it plays properly. If the iPod still does not work repeat the reset process. b> Scroll Wheel and Touch Wheel iPods Move the "Hold" switch from "On" to "Off." Press the "Play/Pause" button and the "Menu" button at the same time. Press both buttons together for approximately 6 to 8 seconds. This initiates the self-running reset process. Make sure the reset was successful. If problems persist you may need to perform the reset process once again. b> iPod Nano Move the on-off switch to the "Off" position that shows the green strip. Leave the iPod Nano in this position for 5 seconds. Move the switch back to the "On" position. Use your iPod Nano to make sure the reset worked properly and all your music is intact. Hope this helps

Ipod freeze how do I restart

This method is to restart your ipod without erasing any of your saved things.

1. Check that your hold switch is off by sliding the switch away from the headphone jack. The hold switch is located in the top corner of the iPod. If you see orange, then the iPod is locked. To unlock the iPod, slide the switch in the opposite position.

2. Press and hold the following combination of buttons buttons simultaneously for approximately 10 seconds to reset the iPod.

For iPod 1G to 3G (scroll & touch wheel iPods): "Menu" and "Play/Pause"

For iPod 4G+ (includes Photo, Nano, Video, and Mini): "Menu" and "Select Center Button"

For iPhone & iPod Touch: "Menu" and "Sleep Button"

For Shuffle: Turn it off. Turn it on. Done.

If you have an iPod Mini or 4th gen iPod or higher, then you need to press the Menu and Select buttons. The Select button is the center button in the middle of the wheel. For older iPods (1G - 3G) you'll need to press the Menu and Play buttons to restart.

Upon reset, your will see the iPod/iPhone name and the Apple logo. When this happens, you can let go - the iPhone/iPod is rebooting. If your battery is very low, you may have to attach your iPod/iPhone to a power source.

3. The iPod name and the Apple logo will briefly appear upon a successful restart before advancing to the Main Menu.

4. If you have your iPod/iPhone connected to your computer and iTunes open, then your iPod/iPhone should mount and show up under "Devices" in the left iTunes sidebar.
