Microphone is not detecting..in my laptop

Check connection - When you enter into a voice chat with friends, each participant should take turns trying to press and hold down the Press to Talk button. Everyone else should see their name turn red when they do that. If you see their names turn red, but don't hear anything, it may be a microphone / speaker problem, or it may be that we have more bugs that we need to fix. If you don't see their name turn red, you are probably having connection problems and that's why it's not working.
· Get the latest version - Please make sure that everyone who is using the voice chat feature has the latest version.
· Check mic and speakers - Check that your microphone works and that your speakers are turned on. Here's how:
* make sure the mic is plugged in correctly.
* adjust the mic properties.
- go to the control panel (start button -- settings -- control panel)
- click on the multimedia icon
- you should see a tab for audio
- make sure that the recording volume is set high.
* you can test your mic. by doing the following.
- Click the Windows Start button, then go to Programs, then Accessories, then Multimedia, then click on Sound Recorder
- A new window called Sound Recorder will pop up. Click on the record button (a red circle), then say

I do not have sound on my computer

1.Look in the lower right corner of your screen, does the speaker icon next to the date and time have a red circle with a line through it? If so, right click the speaker icon, open volume mixer, and click the speaker icon for device to un-mute the speakers2_bing.gif.

2.If using Windows Media Player (I am sure this applies to other media players too) please check below the video which is playing and locate the volume control slide bar. There should be a Speaker Icon next to the bar, make sure the red circle with a line through it is not on this icon either. If so, click it to un-mute your media player. Also, make sure the volume within your media player is turned up in this same place.

3.Finally, if all else fails, click the windows bubble (start menu) and right click on "Computer" or "My Computer" and click "Manage". Select "Device Manager" from the list on the left, and scroll down to "Sound, Video, and Game Controllers2_bing.gif". Expand that list, if you have any errors (Yellow Triangles, Red X's) there, you will need to reinstall drivers which can be obtained from the manufacturer's website.

My sound is entirely disabled (white "x" in red circle over speaker icon) and the control panel won't allow me to change that. Is it a speaker issue? Is there any quick fix I could try?

Try to right click the speaker icon and enable the speakers again .... if u installed a software before doing this it might have installed a driver not compatible, there for just uninstall the program. make sure your in administrators profile.

My volume on my computer dose not work could you help me i have a windows vista

goto where taskbar is and double click on the a silver ball or speaker looking button and that should pull up the volume mixer. now if the speaker or ball in the right bottom hand corner of the screen has a red circle with and slash throught it - that means its muted and unmute your speakers through the volume mixer. if there is no red circle the turn the volume up and you should hear sound. if you see none to those - them you may need to check if your speakers r intalled. also - make sure your external speakers are pluged into the green jack in the back of your computer

I just bought a gateway gt 5692 model pc and it came with two speakers which i cant get to work. theaudio leveler is moving and it says the device is working properly but i even hooked up my other computer...

Which port do you have it connected in on the back? It should be connected to the green port. Also make sure that you dont have the volume muted. You can do that by clicking the speaker in the bottom right corner next to the time. The click the speaker and the bottom of that window. Its muted when it has a red circle with a slash throught it. To toggle it all you have to do is click it.

Thanks
