Question about Gemini Sound Products Gemini Napco Gem-p800 Security Alarm System Keypad

Open Question

We just moved into a house with a Napco Gemini Alarm system. We do not have a phone line in the house, and do not wish to be monitored. We would, however, like to be able to set the alarm. But since there is no landline, the alarm #3 (communication failure) is highlighted on the screen. And, had we not silenced the keypad, the keypad beeps at all times to let us know! How do we override the communication failure and set the alarm without the obnoxious beeping? PLEASE :)

First thing its not the resistor. The resistor is there only to make sure the siren wires are ok and not tampered with. Second found this in an install manual.

Bell Test

Enter this command to turn on the Bell, keypad

sounder and keypad LEDs for 2 seconds. The

battery is tested during a Bell Test, and automatically

every *24 hours to ensure proper battery

operation under load. The Alarm output

requires a battery in order to supply the specified

output. If the battery cannot sustain the load, a

low battery indication will be displayed. A battery

test is also performed on power-up after a 3
minute delay.

if the battery fails test replace it and try again.

Assuming no programming changes were made to the zone types that would diable the bell output. if this does not help, time for an upgrade. : ( GL

I have a gemini home security system and do not know the access code. Can u help me?

Your system is manufactured by Napco Security Systems of Amityville, New York. Call them at 1-800-645-9445 and request that they provide you with a security dealer in your area. The dealer should be able to access the system's internal data and retrieve the user code for turning on and off your system.

The Napco GEMP3200 Control has 2 built-in alarm outputs. One on terminals 3, 4 & 5 and the other 6, 7 & 8. The first output is normally for burglary and is factory set for 12VDC output on terminals 3(+) and 5(-). If you don't have sirens in your system you can convert this output to a dry (no voltage) relay output by cutting Jumper B on the circuit board which is just right of those terminals. Likewise terminals 6(+) and 8(-) can be used as a relay output by cutting Jumper A which is also right of the terminals. However to use this output you will have to reprogram the system to make this output for burglary also. The easiest way,if you are currently using sirens in your system, is to go to a local electronics store and purchase a 12 Volt DC relay module for about $15. Run wires from terminals 3 & 5 to your relay's + and - inputs. The relay should provide a dry closure output which you can then run wiring to your recorder. When your system alarms it will not only set off your sirens but also trip the relay.

Removed alarm system; now phone won't work

In the alarm system there was a jack called an RJ31X. This jack is suposed to have the line run from the teleco interface to it and then back out to the rest of the house(except for DSL, it stays ir front of the alarm jack). When the alarm jack was cut out the line bridge was eliminated. To make the line active find the wire that went to the alarm jack and and connect the red wire to the yellow wire and the green wire to the black wire. that should pass the line through to the remainder of the jacks in the house.

Todd, when you trip the system does it seize the phone line. (meaning does it cut off the plone line to your house phones.) if not you have a wiring problem. also security systems are designed to talk to the monitoring stations reciever on standard pots(annalog) phone lines, not on a dsl line with out a dsl filter. not over voip lines,. you may want to see if your monitoring station can connect to your system remotly. any good security company should be able to do this for you. if they cant you may want to look for a new company.
