SOURCE: Drum makes grinding noise when turning

Hi.
spin the drum by hand, if it feels rough or is noisy, then you probably have drum bearing failure.
Another possibility is one or more of the drum paddles may have come adrift..
These can be replaced.

Manually turn the motor and drum and listen for the noise, if so the motor bearings, the drum agitator shaft and fittings must be checked. Also the suspensions which include the shock absorbers and springs, the body clamps must be checked to be in correct alignment and not changed in position. Tightening of the mounting is also very important. Finally in most cases a drop of OIL or smear of grease on the moving parts cane solve most issues.

Now in this case the failure of the motor drive or the agitator shaft could have resulted in total failure of the spin cycle. Now remove the panel and check manually the movement fo the motor and the main drive, if the shaft is struck up or if the motor bearings/bushes are worn out. It is important to check the voltage on the motor as the absence of the voltage means that the controller has some fault - possible failure of the drive after a heavy load of the malfunction.
