Honda 4514 mower transmission locked. It will not roll in neutral, even if the transmission is released

My mower has been working great. It wouldn't go, so I released the transmission with the switch under the seat so I could roll it off the trailer, but it won't roll. The brakes seem to be nonfunctioning, too. Don't know if that's related.

SOURCE: engine dies when clutch brake released on husqvarna gth2548

First check the seat switch, make sure it is plugged in tightly, these plugs have a safety tab built into them that will cut the engine off if you unhook it,sometimes the plug latch pulls out slightly and this will cut the engine, There are two other switches in the system one on the foot clutch and on on the mower clutch, if you follow the white wire from you ignition switch it will lead you to both of them, check those connections also.

Mower wont move forward or backwards and makes a ticking noise when pushed.

Just a thought , maybe the key that locks the pulley to the input shaft on top of the transmission has sheared and the pulley is just spinning on the shaft or the key on the axle shaft that locks the wheel to the axle and that would allow the brakes not to work.

Bike will start in neutral but is not rolling something in the rear is locked

ok- you've got an old honda dual mode transmission. It will start in neutral and will run in gear but you can't transition from neutral to gear-clutch issue,I think its a hydraulic clutch may require slave cylinder or rebuild-first check for clutch plate movement b4 rebuilding-clymers/haynes manual great investment. Next the battery: either the battery is pooched- can't hold charge or the stator/regulator is malfunctioning or has failed and your battery is the only thing powering the bike thus it runs until the battery has been used up, good luck.

Trans remains locked even after releasing park brake. Trans release lever for moving mower while not rumming doesn't release either.

Hi, even though you have released the park brake, it may be locked on the transmission end. Under the back of the mower on the side of the transmission you will find a short arm which the brake pedal attaches to. It is probably locked forward due to lack of lubrication. Pull it backward and it should release. It will need lubricating with crc or inox or similar until it releases freely. Hope this helps. Regards Phil

One immediate possibility occurs to me, if letting out the clutch in Neutral kills the engine - transmission failure. Locked brakes would not cause the engine to die in neutral. Your trans is siezed - so if you connect it to the engine (by releasing the clutch) it dies. Your front wheels cannot roll for the same reason.

The brakes have locked up. Look under the right rear side of the mower, between the wheel and transmission. You should see a disc, similar to disc brake on your car but a smaller version, There is a nut you can turn to take the pressure off the brake pad. Should take a 1/2" wrench to do this.
Loosen it enough to get the mower to move back and forth then you should be able to load it up on your truck.

Car wont roll forward or back even in neutral

I assume it's a manual transmission.
If the car will not roll backward or forward in neutral (with or without the clutch engaged) the transmission is most likely locked in two gears at the same time.
This may happen if gear selectors are excessively worn. If you are able to examine the gear selection levers external to the gearbox, ensure they are in the 'neutral' (no gear selected) position when the gear lever is in Neutral. If not in correct position, you may be able to manually reset the levers to correct neutral position and thereby unlock the gearbox.
In any case, if it's happened once, it will happen again, so get the gearbox and gear selection mechanism checked for wear or breakage.
