Car heats up but only cold air comes from vents when heat is turned on
First check temp gauge on dash is it normal if so termostat is fine than check the heater hoses going inside from engine compartment if they are hot rule out control valve if it in the engine compartment sit in the vehicle and listen for any noise when you move heater temp switch from cold to hot if you hear clicking noises and no change it may be blend door accutator with moves when you slide or turn heat control nob the heater may have to be removed on some models eexpensive repair may be needed
SOURCE: Heater
check the heater control valve. its a plastic valve in the engine compartment, ensure the cable is attached and also ensure that the valve moves when heat is selected. also it is possible that someone has bypassed the heater core due to a leak. check to make sure both hoses are still connected.
SOURCE: heater blowing cold air with coolant, fine with plain water
it sounds like the heater core is clogged bad if u know someone with a air compressor put a air nossel on it that you pull the trigger to blos air in to the heater core after you take the lines off i had to do this before on a jeep cherokee it did the job
SOURCE: no heat from heater
sounds like the thermostat is stuck. check this first. easier just to remove it and reinstall without one just to see if you get heat. If still not working then there needs to be a good flushing to be done. just make sure when you do a flush to leave heater controls to hot. if still not working then sounds to be like a bad heater core. you might need a professional flush which uses high pressure to blow out any clogs in heater core. hope this helps.

Possible that heatcore is going or hose from heater is leaking or falling off.

When was last flush and thermostat replaced? Also, it may sound crazy but, when I have a partially clogged heater core, which I suspect you do, I usually will disconnect the hose at the heater core, and connect a drill operated pump from hardware store (about $10) to the heater core, and circulate C.L.R through it before putting it all back together. I usually set it up to pump through the core and back into a pail or similar, and then reverse the hoses to allow flow opposite way as well, then I plug lower inlet to core, and fill with C.L.R, and let it sit overnight if I have time, just to clean out as much calcium clogged up in there as I can. Saved me replacing 2 or 3 heater cores so far, that had little or no heat at idle, prior to cleaning, but had good heat after.
