I have a Whirlpool side-by-side refrigerator and I can't get the icemaker front panel off to install a new icemaker kit in order to fix the frosting around the icemaker chute. How does the icemaker front panel release?

According to the model number that you listed in the heading it just shows a cover door that slides out and down and is attached to the top freezer shelf. is this correct? If so pull one side of the slide and it will release the cover.  Now if your talking about removing the dispenser cover on the fron of the freezer door there are 2 slots on the bottom of the cover that you insert a flat tip screw driver and carefully pry the cover off. hope that helps Peyton

You would need to install whats called an Ice Door Kit made for whirlpool refrigerators. I am making an assumption that yours is a Whirlpool made Kenmore, your model number starts with 106. This is not an easy repair, you have to modify the door to install the kit, you might want to call Sears to fix it. If you want to take a chance and fix it yourself I can get you the part number.

Icemaker 106 626133 in 1987 Whirlpool ED22MMXRW sid-by-side

Happy to report that I now have a working icemaker. I had to replace the control module--just replacing the gear was not sufficient. The wiring was slightly different for the new module because it had a side connector instead of one coming out of the lower left corner, but I was able to use front metal plate plus its attachments (motors and switches) of the new to replace the similar parts on the old.

ICE MAKER MAKES ICE BUT WILL NOT LET THE ICE ROLLOUT INTO THE TRAY.

You will need to replace the module. It is accessed by removing the white, plastic cover from the front of the icemaker. Once off, remove the three brass colored screws and disconnect the wire arm on the RH side of the icemaker. The new module will install in reverse order. The module is available at the link below.

Module $48.50

Kenmore fridge106.56546400, icemaker shute leaks

Most likely the chute is not closing all the way. Warm air enters and melts some ice and drips. You'll eventually get a frost buildup there if not already. Order a ice door kit. Get a flashlight and look at the chute door real good for a partial closure for verification.

My Kenmore side by side refrigerator model 106.5686*601 is leaking water from the ice maker inside the freezer.

Icemaker leaks are common and cannot always be solved. May need a new Icemaker. Ofter you can obtain a kit from Lowes (use a Whirlpool kit.)

Problems with Whirlpool 25.6 cu. ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator with In-Door-Ice Dispensing...? How do I remove the front panel in order to get access to the icemaker parts?

Use a screw driver to pry up at the two notches at the bottom of the panel. I thought that might work, but had been afraid if I did I would break the panel.

Ice shute does not seal

There is a plastic clip that has broken off of the icemaker chute door spring latch on the refrigerator door. This is a common problem and a replacement kit is available from whirlpool to correct this problem. If you contact whirlpool directly they will help you out with a part number for the kit.
