I have the red standby light but the TV will not come on. I have taken it to a TV shop and they said the motherboard is bad and finding another one is next to impossible.

Open the back of the TV,and look at the can shaped items called capacitors on the board that the power cord is hooked to.If any of them have the tops,or bottoms bulged out, they need to be replaced. This should get it working again. Most of the time the big black capacitor on the power board goes bad,and bottom bulges out,but sometimes it is the other capacitors as well.I hope this helps. If you have any questions, please let me know.Thank You very much!

I would have to say that you have bad capacitors in the power supply.Open the back of the TV,and look at the can shaped items called capacitors on the board with the power cord.If any of them have the tops,or bottoms bulged out, they need to be replaced. This should get it working again.I hope this helps. If you have any questions, please let me know.Thank You very much!

My tv won't turn on...the red light indicates that it's plugged in, but everytime i press the power button, i get nothing! can someone help?!

If warranty no longer valid, the first printed circuit board I would investigate is the one with all the aluminum heat sinks on it!!! It's called the "switch mode power-supply" !!! Power supply detects a "fault condition" and goes into "shutdown mode" to save itself from catastrophic component failure!! e.g. smoke, sparks, fire. Same typical failure modes occur in CCFL back-lit lcd computer monitors. You will need to visit YOUTUBE for video clips of "lcd monitor disassembly" and "lcd monitor repair" and after that move up to CCFL lcd tv repair videos to know just what to "LOOK" for on the smps board. Good luck with your unit. 12fixlouie

I have the same issue. Here's a temporary solution, which is what I've been doing for the last couple of weeks, unplug the unit from the wall, just long enough for the red standby light to go out, then plug the unit back up. as soon that the red standby light comes on, press the on button the the remote or the unit. You may have to do this couple of time before it works. Somedays it works on the first try for me and then somedays I have to do it 3 to 4 time. I sure that at some point this will stop working too.

Very likely have blown fuses and capacitors in both the power supply and the backlight inverter sections. Repair is best left to a technician unless you are tech savy and able to use a soldering iron.
