Question about Acer LCD ET.DX3HP.C02 X203HCBD 20inch Wide 16:9 1600x900 5ms 1000:1 DVI

1 Answer

No audio I have no sound coming from my monitor. There isn't an audio port either. It didn't come with one. Is that normal? Even in the manual it shows an audio port but I don't have one on mine.

Hi,
not every LCD has built-in speakers. You can have a type without speakers. Specification of type with and without ones can differ eg. just in one character... And both types can look very similar, price could be almost the same... The user guide can the same for both types
Check specification of your product, it can be mistake of shop or you have bought product without speakers...

SOURCE: No audio

Hi

Pls check if the audio settings on the monitor are correct. Along with the monitor menu button, there will be another button for audio for some models. For other models the audio option will be available in the menu button itself.

Pls check with another set of powered speakers and not headphones.

Also check for the drivers and any driver updates for your sound card.

Hope this helps fix your problem.

My computer is a SyncMasterP2570HD i cant get any sound to come out but it is detecting sound how do i fix it

The Samsung SyncMaster P2570hd is a monitor with speakers; it isn't the computer itself. I'll assume that you are dealing with a computer connected to the monitor and not a set-top box. Make sure that Mute is not enabled on the computer. There should be an icon on the lower right hand side of a Windows desktop. If the mute is enabled, it will have a red circle with a diagonal line through it. Left click on the icon to remove the mute (change the volume or click on the mute icon). Test the monitor's speakers by connecting it to another device with known good audio output.

Next how are you connecting the monitor to the computer (VGA, DVI or HDMI)? If you are using VGA or DVI (including DVI to HDMI), you need to connect an audio patch cable (3.5 mm) between the speaker (green port on the back of a sound card) or headphone jack of the computer and the audio input jack of the monitor. The audio input jack is between the DVI and VGA ports. You can test the output of the speaker jack on the computer with regular computer speakers. Plug in the power cord (or USB cable) for powered speakers. If the free-standing speakers work, check the volume setting on the monitor with the +/- buttons to the right of the menu button. Do not press menu first, though. If that doesn't solve the problem, continue using the separate speakers. (Unless the monitor is still under warranty, it usually isn't worth taking apart a monitor to replace the speakers. You may be able find replacement parts online.)

If you are using an HDMI cable, check the output audio setting to see if the HDMI audio is available. For Windows, click on Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound (Windows 7). Then click on Manage Audio Devices under Sound. In the Playback tab, check what available audio devices you have. Make the HDMI the default device by right-clicking on it and selecting Make this the default device. (Other versions of Windows will a slightly different route to this panel.) You may need to restart the computer to get the audio signal on the HDMI cable after setting this. Note: not all video cards/computers support HDMI audio. If you don't see HDMI listed in the Playback devices, connect an audio patch cable as with a VGA or DVI cable, described above. Use stand-alone speakers if the monitor's speakers are bad.

I hope this helps.

(I have had the speakers fail in monitors; <$30 separate speakers are an adequate replacement for those built into a flat panel monitor.)

My usb port on monitor isn't working. how can i fix this?

Hi,
The USB ports on the monitor will work only if you connect the monitor via a USB cable to your PC/Laptop's USB port. Sounds awkward. Doesn't it? There must be a USB cable with flat socket on one end and trapezium shape jack on one end. It should be in the box which the monitor came in. The USB ports in the monitor are just another extended USB ports for your PC/Laptop. If you can't find the cable mentioned above, it is the same cable you connect to a printer, scanner,........ In some cases you might need to install a driver which should also come along with monitor. Mostly you don't need to install.
Good luck.

No sound from docking station

The most likely cause is a damaged docking connector. However if there was no incident with knocking, wrenching or mistreatment of the dock connector, it may be another cause. If you turned the power off after it had been on a long time and the dock didn't start up again then: 1: If it is charging the ipod but no sound then the sound processor as failed.2.If it isn't charging the ipod then watch the diagnostic video: SounDock Original Check & Diagnostic

No Sound LGW234T-PF

The LG W2343T does not have speakers. So you can't plug in a 3.5 mm audio patch cable between the computer's line out or headphone jack and the monitor. (Similarly, other devices can't provide sound to the monitor.)

Are you using a desktop or a laptop? If you have a laptop, make sure that the correct audio drivers are loaded for your OS and make sure that the audio isn't muted (look in the lower right on a Windows system in the tray for the speaker icon). On an HP laptop, we had to use the Component Services (Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative tools > Component Services > Services in Windows 7) and stop all audio services and restart them. Then reboot the computer to use the internal speakers at a reasonable volume.

For any unit with external speakers (required for a desktop, optional for a laptop) , connect the speakers to the audio out port (green for 3.5 mm for single connection speakers, see the manual for other speakers) or the headset port. Next make sure that the device drivers are loaded and correct for your sound card (or motherboard audio). (Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Device Manager). If your sound isn't active, look at the Sound header. Then choose Manage Audio Devices and the Playback tab to select the desired speaker option. (Again these are for Windows 7).

If you still have no audio, make sure that the speakers have power (USB cord or AC adapter plugged in depending on the speakers). If it is USB powered, try a different port or a powered hub. If you have an AC adapter, check if it is warm. Some speakers have power/volume knobs. So check if they are on (if there is an LED, that is an easy check). If still no audio, try a different audio patch cable, if possible. Otherwise, try different speakers. There may be a damaged wire preventing the speakers from working. Depending on the problem and if your speakers are under warranty, it may be worth fixing or not.

Documentation for the monitor is available here: http://www.lg.com/us/computer-products/monitors/LG-lcd-monitor-W2343T-PF.jsp . Click on the Support tab.

If you want to use a stereo receiver with RCA audio inputs, you'll need an adapter or a 3.5 mm to RCA m/m audio cable.

I hope this helps.

Hi. Greetings. I have one of this set. One day while i'm playing songs on it, my siblings accidentally plugged another wire into the earphone port. When i unplugged it, there isn't anymore sound...

Put a plug in the earphone port and wiggle it . Could be the little gadget inside is stuck. I had a tv that did that and ended up disconnecting the ear plug port.

How can i use my tv as a computer monitor?

Most newer televisions come with a VGA connection on the back which is the same as for any normal computer monitor. If your tv has this just connect via the vga lead and then select the valid port on your tv. If you wish to use sound as well then as audio lead must be used from the speaker output to the red and white audio inputs on the tv.
If you don't have a vga port on the tv then you maybe able to get an interface that will go convert to something that will plug in to your tv.
I hope this helps.

Sound no longer comes out of monitor. I believe nothing is muted. I replaced cable between monitor and desktop. Any suggestions.

You didn't provide a model for your Envision monitor, so I can provide specifics - but here's a few things to try: (1) Start an audio program on the computer (mp3, CD audio, movie, etc. (2) Disconnect the audio patch cable from the computer's speaker jack and plug in stereo headphones. Adjust the volume on the computer's audio control panel to set the volume. If you're not receiving any sound - make sure you're plugged into the speaker jack (this is often the green jack). If you now hear sound, continue to (3). If you are unable to hear any sounds - your problem is INSIDE the computer. More on this later. Continue to the next step. (3) Disconnect the headphones and try the audio patch cable between the computer and monitor again. Make sure you're using a stereo cable - it has 2 individual contact points on the plugs - mono cables have just two. Pay close attention to the jacks if more than one are offered on the monitor (some monitors have power output jacks, etc.). Select the "LINE IN" or "SPEAKER IN" jack on the monitor. Be sure the plugs are firmly seated into the jacks on both the monitor and computer. (4) Check the menu settings of the monitor to make sure that the speakers are enabled (or not disabled as the case may be).

if you were unable to hear audio in step (2) above, there is a problem with the audio circuit in the computer. Some things to check are: Is there a volume knob on the sound card that is turned to minimum? Are (all) the correct drivers installed for the sound card in control panel? Is the sound card enabled? Does the sound card have a problem indicated by an "x" or "!" on the icon in control panel? Many times, "uninstalling" the device in control panel and the "scanning for changes" to reinstall will solve the problem. Other times, it is an output device issue: Have you selected "Speakers" as the output (not HDMI or Digital Audio).

If still unable to get sound working, provide the Envision model number along with computer name & model or the sound card name and model. If the sound is built into the motherboard, provide the mother board name and model. With that info, it will be easier to get the info you need.

Hopefully, you got the sound working with the tips I provided above. Please rate my reply. Thanks.

How do I wire up my Logitech X540 Speaker system to my Lg tv?

Most TV's nowadays, have audio out RCA jacks that will allow you to send audio from the TV, to an alternate source. These speakers do come with an adapter that allows you to hook up RCA red and white audio cable, and plug them into the adapter, which goes from the RCA jack to a 1/8 in female headphone style jack. You would then need to get a 1/8 in audio cable that has two male ends, and plug that into the back of your sub woofer in the front speakers port. But this really isn't going to give you very good sound quality being it's not giving you true 5.1 surround sound, even with the matrix feature enabled!

Have external gateway speakers

First make sure your sound cards are working properly. 1) Check the master volume of your PC. Go to start menu, control panel, sounds speech and audio devices, sounds and audio devices - i) In volume tab click the speaker volume and check whether all the left, right, etc.. volumes are in medium or high. ii) In audio tab click the volume tab of sound playback and make sure that the master volume is not in mute and all the volumes are either in medium level or at 100%. After making these changes try playing any music. Even if the problem persists go and get your sound card checked in an authorised service centre.

Thanks & Regards,
Shiva
